Has anyone found the answer to the question "Why am I here?"
What exactly is the purpose? How does one make a mark on humanity?
When viewing the world self destruct around you, have you ever wondered what went wrong?
How can we fix it? Or even can we?

WOW!
This is pretty heavy to wake up to. What you're talking about is too big to consider all in one swipe. IMO, we create our own purpose in life, and it's up to each of us to decide what that purpose is.
As for the rest ... the old saying "How does one eat an elephant? One bite at a time."
I highly recommend you find the book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. I don't know if it would be in your public library or not, but it's in ours. In the book, look for Circle of Influence and Circle of Concern. We all have concerns that are out of our control, even outside of our indirect influence. We are most effective when we recognize and concentrate inside our Circle of Influence - changing those things we can change - which will naturally enlarge your reputation and influence on others, enlarging your Circle of Influence.
In other words, you want to fix the world? Start by fixing what you can. Your determination will inspire others to (a) start fixing their areas and (b) follow you in your larger concerns. If you determine that your purpose is to be in the lead of world change and persevere, start with that first step.

I believe my presence makes the world a better place. I am here to help, and to be helped by, my family, my friends and all whom I come in contact with. I need to be supportive to others and a good steward of that which is in my realm.
How I go about this is the hard question, but a good beginning is to do everything in, or with, love.
I believe I am called to give and not worry about how what I give is used by the receiver. I need to do my part. They who benefit from my giving have their own obligation in receiving and using my gift.

Nice thread Raven, it is a very difficult question that has baffled philisophers of all ages. I guess the bottom line is to borrow the words of Albert Eienstein who after making great exploits in physics and found an unrivalled place for himself in history concluded that "man is here for the sake of other men" So I Polycarp, am here in this world for the ssake of other men. At least those whose lives I can touch in ways, no matter how little.

I am here to take all I can get and run like hades with it ahahahahahah
Oh crikey wrong answer. I think my purpose here is simple. teach my girls the good values my family has instilled upon me and send them forth to continue to be good humans and teach their children the same. Nothing to grand or glorious.

Sojourner, you’ve just accorded me the greatest compliment since the beginning of 2006 and probably for a long time. That’s my point, you’ve proven to be not just like Einstein in thought, but a fountain of a rare blend of sweet words that has made my day. I guess I’ll go home and sleep right away before someone takes away the joy you’ve sparked in me. Now tell me the truth, are you human or really an angel amongst us? Remain sweet my dear.

Yes. I have. It took me 34 years, 187 jobs, and 3 careers to find out. I had to travel to the top of the stratosphere, the bottom of the gutter and the middle of the class system. I toured four continents, 35 states, and innumerable cities to find it.
I am here to be a Teacher.
How does one make a mark on humanity?
By teaching. You create lives, you alter futures, possibly for generations to come. You make an impact daily and you can see the results in real time.
When viewing the world self destruct around you, have you ever wondered what went wrong?
What a cynical and slanted question that is!
1. The world isn't self-destructing.
2. Nothing is wrong.
Try working with children. You see the future everyday in their eyes. They are fun, out going and optimistic about the future, just like you were at one time.
Besides, what on Earth makes you think that the world is self-destructing? Medicine is at an all time high. Diseases that have plagued mankind for ages are being eradicated. Great strides are being made at fantastic paces in all the problems of the world.
Genetics promises to feed the hungry, world leaders are working towards this same goal. Engineering is making everyone's life better all the time.
You, yourself, regularly converse with people from all over world on the internet. Sharing views, discussing problems. enlightening each other and learning other's values.
Why, just yesterday, I read about our brave robots, exploring the surface of Mars!
And you say the world is self destructing? It's a Golden Age of Mankind!
Raven...you need to stop watching the news and start hanging out with young people.
