Missing dog

Post by The Red One »

My dog is missing. We got home yesterday and he was gone. He didn't return last night either. I called the pound yesterday and they said they didn't pick one up in my neighborhood, we went around the block six times, and called for him, with no luck of spotting him. I was asking my neighbor if any of them had seen him and then heard three gunfires and a yelping dog. I pray it wasn't mine, but I have a feeling it was. My oldest boy is devestated, he put out fresh water and dog food on the porch and by his dog house in case he came back home. I know when he wakes up this am first thing he's going to ask is "Is Hooch back momma?" And my heart will break when I tell him no. This is a hard time right now, so those of you who pray, keep my boys in your prayers for strength and courage to get through this. Matthew can squat over Hooch without sitting on him and say giddy up horsey and Hooch will look up at him, lay back down, and sigh. It's actually sweet to see. Our dog is missed dearly. :-1

Yeah sorry to hear about Hooch. Hopefully some nice granny just needs him for company for a little while and he will be back soon. Try putting up a few fliers. I will keep my fingers crossed for you :yh_hugs

Ah Red, am sorry to hear your dog is missing. :( Sure hope he comes back to you today! Thoughts and prayers are with you.

Did by chance, did you go and check the area where your neighbor said the gun shots and yelping came from?

I'm pulling for ya, Red. A dog is that special secret-keeper in a family. A boy deserves to get his friend back.

I called the pound to see if they picked any dogs up yesterday or today and they said no. I went driving around again to the area in which I thought was the area in which the shots were fired and it seems to be the wrong spot. He still hasn't came home today either. He has a dish of water and four dog treats on the front porch waiting for him. I don't cry easily but this is killing me! Thanks for all the advice.

Sorry to hear of your possible loss Red, I kind of know how you feel. As our Dog "Roamer" (we had for "6" years) was actually "dog-napped" by a group of dog nappers looking for specific breeds. Hoping & praying your Hooch returns safely!

have you done a police report re: the gunshots? if someone is sure about that, it's illegal to shoot within so many feet of a dwelling. maybe someone would snitch them out. i hope you find your pet soon. and find the truth as to what happened so their sorry arses can be charged.

LC...I live in the county and it isn't illegal to shoot something for being on your property(that's one of the first things we checked into when we moved here.)

Rapunzel...we never got one for him, I should have but didn't due to the fact he has never gotten loose before. :-5

It's now 7:20 here and still no Hooch. :(

I don't think he's coming back. The boys are actually quiet tonight and look out the door every time a dog barks...it's so heart breaking.

And please, call me Kelly :D I use this smilie the green smiley the most because green is my FAVORITE color and I try to be all smiles. Once I start taking my happy pills this :wah: will be me.

Hi Kelly, I think fliers are a good idea. Did you move recently? Could he be trying to find his way back to your old home? Perhaps you could ask some old neighbours to keep an eye out for him. I really hope you find him. Love to you and your family. Mel.

We've lived in this house for almost five years. He still hasn't come home. I don't think he will either. Matthew, my 8 yo, got up this morning and the first thing he did was open the door and look at the front porch, it's still the same as it was two days ago. It's starting to register to him. Hooch was his best friend, literally. He'd sit next to his dog house and pet Hooch as he spoke what was on his mind to him. He asked me yesterday if he could go outside and of course I said yes. He was out there for a long time and I went searching for him, I found him in Hooch's house crying. Sweet but so sad. He has now lost someone VERY special to him. I know a few people in the neighborhood and have them on the look out now. I scanned and printed a few pictures of him and gave it to the few I know along with our number yesterday and passed them out after the kids I babysit left. They said they'd ask there neighbors and call and let me know something. Now all we can do is wait to hear from them and keep our eyes open for him.

[smilie=3,19,32] My heart goes out to you and Matthew. I can really relate to him.

If you or a friend has a big dog or group of puppies, maybe he can release some of his pain to them. It helped me when I was a kid & had a loss.

From what you have said Red, it desn't look promising. If there were no "gunshots" heard, then there was every possibility that Hooch was just staying at someone's house, or just lost. But given the the circumstances, my heart goes out to you & your family in your time of sorrow. :-1
