I have a chinese friend and she has tried cat and dog and says that dog is a delicasey there and tastes a bit like chicken.

My friend Helga was in China and because they spoke no chinese they would go to the same restaurant every night because the food was good. Well everynight there was a little monkey at the door.

One evening she asked one waiter and why there was a different little monkey at the door each evening and he took her in and showed her....

A group of chinese business men were sitting eating the brain out of the head of the newly decapitated money. They didn't even cook it.... Yuck

Down panama way they sell pigs head at the open markets... there it is huge ugly pigs head warming in the sweltering heat...covered in flys and bugs... small birds swooping down and grabbing bugs off of it... and the delivery boy oulls them along in his wagon to deliver it for a small fee of course!

My sister was going out with a guy from the Blackforest in Germany and she was having dinner with him and his family on a Sunday afternoon. They were enjoying the ham when all of a sudden the father flipped over the ham and low and behold, what was looking at her 'Two beautiful eyes'.

She said it took all her strength not to run out to the loo and talk to Huey on the big white telephone :wah:

There was a restaurant here in Cork closed down because they had Greyhounds in the fridge.

This is the worst ever so if you're weak stomached don't read on.

There was a Donor Kebab stand closed in a shopping centre near me when I lived in Germany because they found ....... SPERM........ in the garlic sauce.

Now that's Gross!! :yh_sick

In South Korea I sat down in some nameless lean-to where a lady was cooking some kind of animal. The old men there were very happy to see me and ordered a plate of something for me. I ate it. It was delicious. About that time the guy who was supposed to be protecting me from myself stuck his head in and had a short conversation in Korean. He asked me if I liked the meat. "This is great!" says I. "That's dog," he told me. I ordered another plate. Then one old guy passes me a dark bottle of something cold. I started to drink but my protector says, "That's unregulated. People have died drinking that!" I noted the old guys were drinking the same thing and were ostensibly alive, so I learned my first Korean word: "Tipsidah!" which means "bottoms up!" :wah:

I once saw a travel programme in a rain forest. They were catching HUGE hairy poisonous spiders, wrapping in large leaves and baking on the fires. The poisonous hairs were baked off in the cooking process.....they were then safe to eat. !!!

My stomachs 'churning'...better get back to the butter thread ...;)

Years ago, I had one of the best pizzas ever at this little place in

Placerville, California called Vesuvio's. My best friend's mom took us

there, and it had the candles in the wine bottles and the wax all over

including dripping on the tablecloths... very dark and smoky. But we

enjoyed the pizza, then we walked out and my friend's mom said "If

you ever saw the kitchen there, you'd never eat there again!" But man,

was that pizza ever good!

Ok I find this highly disturbing but..... many years ago on some National Geopgraphic type show they were featuring the food market in I think Taiwan... and one "shop" sold some kind of mystery meat. The real disturbing fact was at the end of the table was a small cage like a cat carrier and inside was this quivering hairless mass still alive. The translation from the vendor was, the meat gets a higher price alive. The commentator couldn't even comment on what it was but later they suspected it was a dog. This image has never left me.

Sorry if this is too gross it can be deleted.

A lot of newer places over here and the big chains are designed so that you can see the chefs cooking and they look pretty good. i did take a peep at the kitchen of the local chinese rest. once. it looked pretty clean but there must have been 30 chickens all piled on top of each other waiting to be cooked...in a warm kitchen...I never eat from take aways myself, except McDonalds occasionally.

Rabbit and cat look similar once skinned. That's why many places require that the butcher leave the head on until purchased. :yh_glasse

One day my husband and I went to a local Italian/pizza joint to get their famous hoagies. They load them down with the works, and top them off with lots of chopped tomatoes and shredded lettuce, then heat them. Well, when we start eating them, my husband started spitting the hoagie out and I asked what was the matter. Here, the person in charge of shredding the lettuce, didn't bother to remove the plastic wrap from it and shredded it right along with the lettuce. The plastic got nice 'n hard after heating it. Have never patronized that place since.

I've had deep fried rattlesnake...tastes just like chicken. It was very good!
