Up until recently I felt that using personals on the internet was an avenue utilized
only by people lacking socialization skills. Well now, it seems to be THE WAY to meet people. Everyone it seems is hitting the ads to find a mate. Its fascinating to see the faces and brief bios of thousands of people. And Yes.... Ive looked myself.
Whats up though? where have all the people gone? What has happened to meeting the opposite sex face to face? Have the avenues for socializing dissapeared? Anyone willing to share their experiences with meeting people posted from personal ads?

Ok.. Ill admit it.. I answered an ad a few monts ago..I was foolish.. He lived about 2 miles from me... His picture was of himself standing on the bow of his boat.. Tan, healthy, wind blown.. Holding a big fish he had just caught. Called himself Ramblin Man. He invited me over for dinner, What a nightmare. Ramblin man was in such bad shape ..he couldnt complete a sentence. The place was filthy, he offered me drugs and pills.. Im thinking.. "Oh my what have you done weeder? How am I going to get myself out of here without having him go beserk? I left while he turned his back to urinate in the bathroom.. with the door opened.. so that I could have a birds eye view........ Havent had the nerve to try the pool again.

This is potentially dangerous. You should arrange to meet in a public place where there are a lot of people, and not accept a lift.

It was very stupid.. I did it because he was in our neighborhood.. a good neighborhood.. Everone on the island knows everyone else.... My roomate at the time knew exactly where I was going.. I had my cell phone with me.... As a matter of fact it turned out weeks later that this man was the ex husband of a woman we knew. A very nic e woman.. We were stunned. We never let her know about the incident.. Apparently he went down hill rapidly, after she divorced him.. But yes it was an eye opener... very foolish of me.. I would never do it again.
