Horror Movies

Hi, I'm a lover of horror movies but find I'v watched so many that they don't give me a scare anymore, my favourite are zombie movies but only because they give me a good laugh :wah: , I think perhaps I have become immune or maybe just bored of them, does anyone else feel the same about them ?

One horror i did watch that i really didn't like was a film called SEVEN, it didn't scare me that much just found it disgusting, very sick person who ever wrote that one :yh_sick

If anyone has any good recommendations for a decent horror movie please let me know.

Ones I've seen are :-

Saw

Saw II

Wrong Turn

All the zombie Films ever made (I think)

Dawn of the Dead (Old and New)

All the Evil Dead Films

All the Halloween Films

Cabin Fever (didn't think much of this one)

Have seen many more but can't remember them at the present.

I like horror/scarey movies too but I always think of the effort to make them camera men standing there special effects so mostly they dont scare me.

I can only think of 1 that made me nervous - The Birds - Hitchcock yeah I know so tame by todays standard but you stand in Trafalgar Square with all the birds flying around your head after just watching it - seemed so real.

Your right the Birds is a good one, maybe we have just been spoilt, the more they perfect the special effects and such the more we want, I sometimes wonder if the story lines have been exhausted cause there basically all the same.

Can't beat the old hitchcocks, his films are classics

Haven't seen cube Orpheus so not sure if it's horror or not, have seen ginger snaps tho, didn't think much of it from what I can remember.

Ah the joy of a good horror movie. Have to agree with u Fire Phoenix, I've watched quite a lot of horror movies, and have to say that gradually they just become less scary over time. Still there are some really good ones out there, that even for fans still give the old goosebumps.

Though the biggest scare I still get on a daily basis is staring at my face in the mirror!! :wah:

Hmm I've seen Cube (well if it is the one I'm thinking of,) and despite being a ok-ish movie, wouldn't really class it as being that much of a horror flick.

I thought the Ring was terrifying. One of these ones that gets under your skin. Had to sleep with the light on for weeks

On a non horror but scary direction....

When a Stranger Calls....

I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw this new Flick advertised. This is a remake of the 1977 flick of the exact same name. Back then that show scared me to death as I was in my prime Babysitting age. I just have to go see it to see if it is grander than the original. I found that flick way back then terribly disturbing. I can't recal if it was based on truth or not.

I remember sitting in the theater with my 2 best friends, and my one friend had my winter scarf in her hands and was twisting it nervouslyl round and round until she had me nearly choked hehehehe (yeah I had it still around my neck)

I loved Van Helsing as well. I bought the DVD.

I think a good thriller is great. One that keep you on the edge of your seat but doesn't show any gruesome bits.

I thought 'Sleeping with the Enemy' was good and of course I love all the X-Files. Some of them are quite scarey, or am I just a scaredy cat :p

I also think that movies that depict futures that could come true are scary:

Soylent Green - World overpopulation is so bad that the oceans are dead and the only food available is dead humans who are processed and fed to the masses.

Andromedra Strain, The Stand, and The Omega man - On the horror of biological war. Believe me, I have a "Top Secret" clearance, biowar is worse than nuclear war.

The posession of Emily Rose was incredible. That girls acting was amazing. Freaky as hell story mind you.

That was very nice of you! It's been the "Forest Gump" life for me, that's for sure!

All of them are from previous decades, but are still considered classics so probably can still be found in your bigger video stores.

Interestingly, In "Near Dark" they never actually say the word, "Vampire". I love one of the lines from that movie:

"How old am I? Let's just say that I fought for the South. We lost."

The scene where the vampires play poker and shoot each other for cheating is hilarious! Warning: Not for the weak at heart, this film is pretty graphic.

Watched a good film on Sky Movies the other night called Gothika, anyone else seen it ? What did you think of it ? It actually made me jump a couple of times. Don't know if you would call it horror or psychological thriller

but would recommend a watch

I love agood horror. I'm a huge Romero fan although I found Land of the Dead a bit disappointing really.

It's nice to see a new emergence of horror films in the last few years, and done in a genuinely scarey way.

I'm off to think of some good horrors to suggest.

I must admit that the resurgence of the zombie film is great, Dawn of the Dead (remake), 28 Days Later and best of all Shaun of the Dead.

I've had a soft spot for horror since I was a teenager, I've seen all of the Nightmare on Elm Streets, all of the Halloweens and all of the Friday the 13ths (hilarious!).

On the whole though the latest batch of horror films have been slightly disappointing, they are all too similar and without a sense of humour.

I was terrified. I really couldn't sleep after this one.

Tonight I've got, The Island, Forty Year Old Virgin and Stealth.

Totally not the plot I thought it would be, it has quite a twist. Great special effects, but hard to watch unless you have an attention span of about a tenth of a second.

There are some quite funny lines in it. But I wouldn't be givin' him a Mercy Jump :wah:

I want some f***ing french toast.

Ok now really I'm the biggest yellow belly there is when it comes to scary or horror movies. I prefer just the ghost ones with out all the gore. So my rule of thumb if it's horror and rated over pg 13 I don't watch it.

I love horror movies and cant get enough of them. Unfortunately there arent that many that really scare me. My favourites are probably The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original), Switchblade Romance, The Descent and 28 Days Later.

Have any of you seen Wolf Creek ??

We saw it the other night for the first time and it was horrible!!

Cant wait to see Hostel, but thats not coming to the Uk until June
