NEW YORK ” Filmmaker Michael Moore's bodyguard was arrested for carrying an unlicensed weapon in New York's JFK airport Wednesday night.

Police took Patrick Burke into custody after he declared he was carrying a firearm at a ticket counter. Burke is licensed to carry a firearm in Florida and California, but not in New York. Burke was taken to Queens central booking and could potentially be charged with a felony for the incident.

Moore's 2003 Oscar-winning film "Bowling for Columbine" criticizes what Moore calls America's "culture of fear" and its obsession with guns.

This has not prevented the Gourmond from surrounding himself with guys in black packing heat.

Moore, a showman and money grubbing businessman who made millions out of feeding willing liberals and lefties lies and distortions about the Bush administration is rapidly becoming a parody of himself.

His campaign against McDonalds has not prevented him from becoming the biggest double-size burger in the media Jester industry: 'The Man Who Ate America'.

In an interview last year with Playboy magazine, Moore called the National Rifle Association a "radical, freaky group."

When asked to comment Thursday on the arrest of Moore's bodyguard, NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam said: "Based on empirical evidence, this is the height of hypocrisy."

The FOX News Channel is reporting that anti-gun, anti-America filmmaker Michael Moore's bodyguard was arrested for carrying an unlicensed weapon in New York's JFK airport Wednesday night.

FOX reports police took Patrick Burke, who says Moore employs him, into custody after he declared he was carrying a firearm at a ticket counter.

According to the story, Burke is licensed to carry a firearm in Florida and California, but not in New York. Burke was taken to Queens central booking and could potentially be charged with a felony for the incident.

The FOX story concludes by noting that Moore's 2003 Oscar-winning film Bowling for Columbine criticizes what Moore calls America's "culture of fear" and its obsession with guns.

This latest example of Michael Moore's hypocrisy is going to make waves that reverberate through the rest of his sorry life.

He should have hired a bodyguard that could use diplomacy well enough too not need a weapon. That's what he says America should do.

Ah...the irony. The worst part? People will STILL give this dork credence.

(Sorry...couldn't come up with a more fitting term than "dork".)

He is a flippin' idiot. It's the same thing with other outspoken anti-gunners - politicians, entertainers, the media-elite: They all have bodyguards packing heat. Sure it's okay for *them to have access to this right, but it's not okay for the "little person".

There is a prominent radio personality in the Bay Area, CA that constantly rants about the need for the banning of guns. It was recently disclosed that this guy successfully obtained a concealed weapons permit and actually carried! Hypocrisy.

If the Pope can have an armed guard then why can't the pope of modern American Documentries.

Last thing I'd want to do, while I was wolfing down my last piece of McD's double burger'n'shake, is run into some irate marine or sailor out blowing off steam at the local bar.

What would be hypocritical would be to know that this would happen to him and not allow him to do anything about it. Dead heroes are not the way to go when you could have kept them alive and functioning.

Next time he should see if he can hire an FBI agent. This way he wouldn't have to worry about state restrictions on carrying concealed firearms.

Absolutely true that those in power need to be questioned. Have you followed anything that MM stands for or speaks out against? As far as everyone being a hypocrite, I'm not sure I follow you...Everything that I stand for and believe in I will argue and debate until I'm blue in the face. Do I say one thing and practice something else? Not if I can help it.

And a world with no politicians at all....hmmm... :yh_think

Maybe you are not familiar with Mr. Moore and his interviews regarding guns and gun control? I was referring to his hypocrisy regarding this topic.

Of course, he probably feels perfectly justified since "he" wasn't involved with carrying a horrible gun. Yet...he has the financial means to have a bodyguard do the potential dirty work for him.

You see, you don't deserve the same protection and rights of self-defense as Mr. Moore - that is - unless you can hire your own bodyguard.

It's interesting how the media "elite" find no problem railing against issues - but are then the first ones to violate their own political stances.

Also, I would hardly call his last two movies documentaries. Documentaries are suppose to contain more fact than fiction.

I am familiar with MM's work and the criticisms of it.

As for everyone being a hypocrite I think you proved my point by saying 'not if I can help it'. So sometimes you will say one thing and do another. I don't doubt that this may be a very rare occurence but I stand by my belief that everyone is guilty of hypocrisy from time to time.

A world without politicians might sound like a good thing, but they would only be replaced by a different group of people who would probably not be much different.

Just me thinking out loud...live and let live as much as possible :)
Well, I figured I'd get jumped on for saying "Never". There are no absolutes in life, no one ever "always" or "nevers". But I can say that when I believe in something, I don't let it go. Kinda like a bulldog. I'm very opinionated and tenacious. The only way to get me to change my mind on something is to prove me wrong, beyond a shadow of doubt.

THIS guy, however, goes around speaking of the "evils" of guns and gun owners and is found to have the very thing he speaks out against on his payroll! It's absurd. And even if "most" or even all people are hypocrites "from time to time" that dosen't make this twit look any less foolish. Or should I say any MORE foolish than he already does. Which to me, was quite a stretch!

And BTW, the politicians comment was strictly tongue-in-cheek...:yh_eyebro

It almost impossible (if not completely) to prove most things beyond a shadow of doubt...bit like 'never' being a hypocrite. Seeing as it's so hard for you to change your opinion I wonder how you get your opinions in the first place
Nah...It's just that sarcasm and lots of other nuances are lost when communicating this way. I'm a very sarcastic person. It drives my fiance up a friggin' wall.

It is hard to get me to change my opinion, but when I have been proven wrong (read: I have been shown enough proof in MY eyes, to rethink my stand) I am capable of admitting that my way of thinking is flawed. Do you think MM is now going to jump up and say "OK, I admit it, guns aren't the evil things I have been saying all along that they were."? If he does, I'll eat my monitor.

I get my opinions the same way everyone else does. Seeing what goes on around me and experience, and taking it from there.

But to be perfectly honest, I've never been proven wrong. In fact I've never made a mistake. I thought I did once but I was wrong... :yh_rotfl

(See? It's that darn sarcasm again.... :D )

Esthetic relativity... beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I've never seen any of his films. He is no hero of mine. He speaks his mind and so does Bush. Their messages are left for us to decipher.

It is common practice in Native American War councils that there be a spokesperson for peace included in the discussions. We are no different. Some people get carried away with their agenda. Look at Hitler.

I've heard enough about Bowling for Columbine to know that sometimes guns fall into the wrong hands with drastic effects on the populace. His simplistic design of getting rid of guns would work well if every other nation in the world did the same thing. It doesn't and shouldn't detract from his message that there are too many guns that are easily available for the nut cake to lay his hands on and cause carnage.

If someone has a gun that has an attitude about me, then I would want to have an equalizer on hand. He had an equalizer. It came in the form of an armed bodyguard. For him to carry a gun should be his right, but because of his stature in the world he has closed that option to himself. Ther are crazies around that would happily go to jail as long as they could brag to their buddies that they shot so and so. John Lennon is but another example of this lunacy.

If we could construct the perfect regimen to keep guns out of idiot's hands then we would be half way there. We haven't. We aren't. And until we do threads like this will abound with pros and cons about guns or no guns. If he didn't need a gun then he wouldn't have one around him. To him, his safety is paramount. To those that don't like him, there is the madness that he doesn't get killed for shooting off his mouth about getting rid of guns.

From his perspective I am sure that he realizes that he is damned if does defend himself and damned if he doesn't. Point is maybe he should think about getting a bodyguard that uses a crossbow. If enough stars do it then he'll have another hit movie. William Tell's Hockey Rink.
