(Feb. 7) -- Photos of Britney Spears driving with her newborn son, Sean Preston, in her lap spread across the Internet on Tuesday, prompting the pop star to issue a statement claiming she was trying to get away from the paparazzi. In a statement, Britney Spears says she held Sean Preston during an encounter with the paparazzi to keep him "out of harm's way."

There are plenty in hte world who cannot have children and would cherish that little one, not put him in harms way!!

How stupid do you look as you explain to the press that you were "trying to keep a child out of harm's way" by NOT putting them in a child protective seat?

Britney isn't the brightest person on the planet for sure, and this just proves the point. Some people just don't have a clue to the dangers of driving with your baby in your lap, besides being against the law if she was in the smallest of fender benders that baby would be smashed to death.. !! I just read that the police are "investigating" the "incident" but don't expect to be filing any charges.

Well of course not, as I said before, she is both rich and famous.

Had that been me, the police would do their investigating while I sat waiting in a jail cell and my infant was with a foster family.

Just playing Devils Advocate: Yes it's because she's "famous" is why the popparizzi were hounding her. She said she got nervous & that's what made her drive off before returning the baby to its car seat. When you think about it, that's how they got that picture in the first place. Previously it was said the baby "was" in the car seat, before stopping & her waiting on her bodyguard who was getting something for them, to return to the car, so she took the baby out of the seat & was holding it while waiting. That was a motherly thing to do, & then the popparizzi thing started.

I have three children and have never removed them from the car seat while sitting and waiting for someone to return to the car from a quick errand.

The paparazzi didn't just appear in her life this week. They have been hounding her for a couple of years now. She is well aware of how "scarey" they can be - ESPECIALLY since the birth of her son.

Paprazzi at different times for what ever reason, may sometimes be more scary then others, look at what happened to Dianna.
