I think everyone has some period(s) in their life when they feel insecure about something or another, and I'm no exception. When I was in an abusive relationship I had no self-esteem, no sense of self-worth. How did I change it? Courage. Help from friends and family and a lot of hard work. If you want it bad enough, you can have it, but you are the one with the power, no one else can do it for you.

Depending on what action I was being dared to do, it probably wouldn't take the "double" dog dare to get me to do it.

Funny you should ask....I have been battling a cold these last few days, one so bad that I showed up at work and my boss took one look at me and said, "You look like sh!t, go home." I called Bullet to come back and get me and he had the electric blanket heating up on the couch for me, my books, hot tea, and was in the process of making me soup. I got a craving for more red licorice, he went out and got it. Then I got a craving for ice cream, he went out and got it. Put my slippers on my feet, then later made me a bubble bath and washed my hair. Then he put lotion on my back, tucked me back in and fed me juice and cough syrup till I fell asleep.

Fuzzy eats 3 live mice a week. I'm thinking of moving him up to one large rat, but I don't want him all bitten up, either. I'll be taking him to a vet next month to see what the experts say. Reptiles are not my area of expertise.

Fuzzy has a large tank with wood shavings as his nesting material, a rough branch to twine around, two half-logs to burrow under and a natural looking rock "pond". He has a heating pad that sets under the tank on one end with a heat lamp over that end of the tank. That way he can be in the heat if he's chilled, or move to the other end of the tank if he gets over-heated. He also has a glob of hardened cemented small stones to rub on when he sheds his skin.

We take him out just about every day and handle him. The more a snake is handled the less concern there is for getting bitten. Although, if it's the day or so before his feeding, you have to be very careful and I don't let any of the kids handle him then. He loves to wrap himself around Bullet's shoulders and being a fairly large snake when he constricts it;s like getting a massage, he's so strong! The really are fascinating animals, but definitely not a pet for just anyone.

I have spent a grand total of ONE night away from him since we got together. Tonight is the second and I am this tough biker chick who is on the verge of tears thinking about him hurting in a strange bed. He's only 15 minutes away but it might as well be another country.

I was looking forward to getting here to FG when I got home just for the company.

I know how you feel, BR. I really do. I've been there many, many times. Just be strong, I know it's tough with everything else going on, but that strong guy of yours is just as scared as you are, I'm sure, and he needs your strength right now.

To help you feel better, my wife just had this surgery two months ago. She was in terrible pain before, but now she feels great! The procedure is low risk and I'm sure Bullet is tough enough to fight off the infection.

Keep telling him how wonderful he'll feel when it's healed! He'll be able to do all the things he's been missing again and he'll sleep soundly, without pain...

Umm...wow. Hi Nibbles, I'm not sure where your story is pertinent to this situation, although I am interested in it. I won't get used to not having my man home. He's in the hospital after surgery and I miss him desperately. We have a very loving, honest, loyal wonderful relationship. If you want to talk about your situation, feel free, there are many great people with loads of insight and support to give, but I don't think our situations are similar at all. I know that he'll be grateful that he had the operation done, but right now, seeing my tough as nails, strong as a bull man in so much pain, hurts. Having to be separated from him makes it harder. I break down when I have to leave, and sleeping is an impossibility.

But I know it's only temporary. I won't be so pouty for long. I have little patience for self-pity. I'll snap out of it, especially with all the wonderful kind people here helping me. :-4 Like you.

Ancient instinct, Sojo! Back when before felines were domesticated, they made their nightly homes in the tall grass so that they could easily detect predators. They would walk a circle and claw the ground to mat it down and fluff it up in just the right way.

Also, the "pawing" reflex is born into kittens to kneed milk from the mother! So this can also be a sign of contentment.
