The Freedom of Information act, puts "On Line" infomation records that used to be in folders in Clerks offices in city halls. Like How much you paid for you house, How much you sold you house for, if you're maried, divorced, widowed, your addresses in all states, phone numbers, death certicifactes, arrest records, organizations affiliated with, what ever, you name it, it most likely will be on line!!! (At least Here in the USA anyway)

yeah like they can't get into your computer or anything like that... thats illegal.

its just if you release information about yourself such as email address, specific location, or any other specific details.

or you make a video tape for example of some moment that was say private and someone else gets ahold of the tape and puts it on the net.

its all about what you choose or choose not to say.

Not to mention the tax assessor. In Las Vegas they put all the homeowner's information online, along with a satelite photo (similar to the one we have here in the Garden). There's the information right in front of you, price of the house, how long you've lived there, a picture of the SUV in the driveway and the pool in the back yard, and a nice maze of streets to help thieves plan the getaway once they break in and steal your stuff.

In addition, there are private on line sites that charge like $9.95 to $29.95 & they will give you personal addresses & phone #'s in all states, arrest records, death certificates, tickets received, and just way too much other "personal private" info. Just to make the almighty dollar, they make money off it, not really for the freedom of info act!:-5 It should be Illegal !!!!

mrsK wrote: I don't understand how they can put all this stuff everywhere, but,if I want to find something out about my husbands accounts,he has to give permission to the caller so that I can ask questions to find out things on his behalf. And then they just ask you your date of birth................hello:-5 ........................... anyone could know that especially family members, how do they know who they are really talking to?

I had to get permission so the Pay TV people could talk to me about our account that happens to be in his name.

It's a very strange privacy act:confused:

Sad but true the internet has made PRIVACY a thing of the past.:-5 :-5 It won't change, it will become more intrusive as technology gets better. :-3 Data lists are a money making business, big money is being paid for your information like it or not..
