Hey all, i've been a little poorly for a while now, i've been taking steroids & antibiotics more or less since xmas for chest infections.

My doc on Friday prescribed me Erythromcin and its made me feel awful,

i have violent stomach pains and am feeling very confused, have no appetite and generally feel blummin awful.

Just wonderered if anyone had, had any probs taking antbiotics,

i really dont want to take them but my lymph node's very swollen and painfull, so obviously need them to fight the infection.

Dont want sympathy, just advice x.

Abbey love, you should go back to the doctor tomorrow if you still feel the same, or at the very least ring up the surgery. Does it say anything on the bottle/ packet about side effects ?

If you're not eating, the antibiotics might be upsetting your tummy so you should make sure you have at least a piece of toast or a couple of biscuits before you take the meds......good lord...I sound just like a mother. :D ...never mind, you just get better.

I think you should return to the doctor tomorrow, like everyone has suggested. He can give you a different antibiotic that will not make you so sick.

No sympathetic remarks, but how about a hug? :yh_hugsA hug'll do nicely thanksx

I've taken them with food, 1 hour after food, 1 hour before food, without food makes no difference!

Erythromycin is known to cause stomach problems. You should ask him for something else. Problems down below, when the pills are done also. Hope your well soon.

You might want to try some probiotics, too, to replace intestinal bacteria.

In addition to trying to eat something with it, which is good advice, if

you get some active culture yogurt down there... well, let's just say it

couldn't hurt!!

I cannot take that antibiotic either. It puts my stomach into violent cramps (it doesn't matter how much food I eat with the med) - not to mention what starts coming out the other end. I'm allergic to penicillian so I always get Keflex. Try eating lots of yogurt (8-12 oz. a day) with antibiotics. I always have to do that to keep my intestines in order.

OH yeah - MUCH SYMPATHY - I hope you feel better soon sweetie. :-4

You may be allergic, contact your doc and let them know..

Its not good to keep taking meds you are allergic too as they can cause other problems, they may just need to give you another strand of anti biotics..

keep check of your temprature, lm allergic to pennecillin and my temp goes through the roof, dangerously so..

Maybe call nhs direct for advice as they may say stop them now...

call its worth it, its your health :-3

I would not hesitate to call the doctor. When my son was small, he woke up with hives on his neck. After a long day of playing, every joint in his body started to swell. On the way to the emergency room he was in severe pain. By the time we got there, he was delirious. When asked what had happened, he said, "My daddy stabbed me." Thank God it was obvious he had not been stabbed! :wah: Anyways, my point is, an allergy can be very serious and very severe. We were lucky his throat didn't swell shut. Please call the doctor NOW.
