Is This True?! What's your story?
British psychologist calculates ‘most depressing day’

LONDON - Is the midwinter weather wearing you down? Are you sinking in debt after the holidays? Angry with yourself for already breaking your New Year's resolutions? Wish you could crawl back under the covers and not have to face another day of rain, sleet, snow and paperwork? Probably. After all, it's Jan. 24, the “most depressing day of the year,†according to a U.K. psychologist.
Dr. Cliff Arnall's calculations show that misery peaks Monday.
Arnall, who specializes in seasonal disorders at the University of Cardiff, Wales, created a formula that takes into account numerous feelings to devise peoples' lowest point.
The model is: [W + (D-d)] x TQ
M x NA
The equation is broken down into seven variables: (W) weather, (D) debt, (d) monthly salary, (T) time since Christmas, (Q) time since failed quit attempt, (M) low motivational levels and (NA) the need to take action.
‘Reality starts to kick in’
Arnall found that, while days technically get longer after Dec. 21, cyclonic weather systems take hold in January, bringing low, dark clouds to Britain. Meanwhile, the majority of people break their healthy resolutions six to seven days into the new year, and even the hangers-on have fallen off the wagon, torn off the nicotine patches and eaten the fridge empty by the third week. Any residual dregs of holiday cheer and family fun have kicked the bucket by Jan. 24.

Well, I had a good day, but froze all day... I hate the cold.
I did notice people around me didn't fair so well though.

Quick! Everyone hide the rope!
I feel great today. Better than I have in a very long time.

Geez, I don't know. What a funk I'm in today! I have this trick knee, and while I was heading out to work Sunday morning it buckled in on me, and I took a header down the stairs. Being cooped up at home for 2 days flat on my back, combined with this crappy winter that I hate could be the cause of my grumpiness. I'm even sick of my own grumpiness! :yh_sigh

Bless your heart! Two days trapped anywhere would drive me nuts! Nothing wrong with being grumpy from pain and being cooped up in bed. Ya can't even throw things, like your pillows, because how will you get them back again? No, it's enough to drive the most rational among us to the edge.
How long before you are okay again? Do you have anything there to make you feel better? Chocolate? A great book?

Suddenly it all makes sense. I lost my car key at work while packing all the tools up. I had already slid down a pile of rocks and landed back first into a pole early in the day. It was dark by the time I started packing and it took me an hour to find my key in the dark. I am now sitting at the computer with a stiff drink because I can't stand up anymore. Nice to know it's not just me.

So it's just the season? Damn, but I hate winter.
Koan, are you going to be ok? I've been at my computer for a couple hours now, feeling sorry for myself. Then along comes A Karenina to boost me up. Thanks hon!! :yh_hugs

On my third drink now and feeling better already. Mind over matter. Booze over pain. I've been known to crawl across the floor before it can be fun depending whose watching. :-6

Sniff.Sniff. it's so true, it's dark outside and it's cold and I'm having trouble getting up in the morning. Oh the humanity! Oh the horror!
