Chonsi, you forgot an option in your poll: "The olympics bore me to tears and I couldn't imagine spending 10 consecutive seconds watching one single event."
Sorry, carry on with your thread. :yh_rotfl

Has to be the bobsled event for me. How they can fly down to the finish line at the speeds they do considering the huge danger risk, is really amazing.
Speaking of the Winter Olympics don't suppose any Brit caught the Top Gear Winter special. OMG that was sooooo funny, it had me in stitches at times!! :wah:

I would have thought you'd have some interest in biathlon, too, BR.
Only thing is it's really largely ignored... guns and all, dontcha know!

Never thought I would say this but I'm enjoying watching CURLING... YES you heard me CURLING. One night last week I couldn't sleep I watched the US beat somebody in the wee hours of the morning.
I'm now watching the US men beat Great Britian 6-3 with 5 rock left for each team. The US is damn good.

One of the brothers is an Olympic class archer. He can take a Necco wafer, (remember those?), drill a hole in it, hang it from a string, have someone swing it, causing it to pendulum, and put an arrow through it at 30 yards. Blows my freakin' mind. And I thought a dozen arrows in a cigarette pack at 20 yards was good! Sheesh!!

I like the yelling and the sounds they make and the sweeping ...!! It actually has some skill to it, but still have no idea how they get a point..but fun to watch..
Haha ladies, ladies let me explain.
Each team takes it in turns to send their stone (think that's what it called,) down the ice and hopefully into the centre circles. After each team has thrown several times each (5 I think, so that would be 10 in total,) then whichever team has the most stones closest to the centre, than the team gets the points. So if they have just the one stone closest to the centre then they get 1 point, but say they have 3 stones closest to the centre over the other team then they get 3 points. This continues for 10 times, until a winner is declared.
There I hope that was a good, easy-to-follow description for you. :p

Oh Chris, thank you for that explanation. I shall try to apply that as I probably watch it again tonight while washing those proverbial dishes.

Glad to be of assistance. Just don't ask me the rules on events like the ice dancing though because there I have no idea, apart from the fact that if u fall on your bum it's bad! :wah:

:wah: I don't like the new skating system of scoring, but they had to change it. I was used to the old system-gosh, I hate to say it-for over half a century! My sister used to skate in competitions, so I knew it well.
Now I feel old today!:)

Didn't they decide to change the scoring system this time around, because of that scandle from the last Winter Olympics. Something to do with a dodgy judge if I remember right.

Yes, the French judge scandal. But the system is totally different, it is hard to keep track of when you were ysed to the old system.
I wonder if they will ever put rollerblades in for a summer Olympic event?
