Post by BabyRider »

Bullet left the house today a Blue Angel. He came home a Liberty Rider.

The crazy S.O.B. jumped patch.

He's been looking at other clubs for a while now, as he's becoming frustrated with the way certain things are being handled with the BA, but as far as I knew, we'd decided he wasn't going to make a move till after his trial is over. Well, he met with the Liberty Riders today and they offered him patch for patch. My ol man is now a Liberty Rider. I can NOT believe it. It's so unlike him to make snap decisions like this, I almost thought he'd been abducted by aliens and an exact, but insane replica put in his place.

Nope, it's him. I now have a new biker family. I don't know a single one of them yet, I will be meeting them on Wednesday. Wow. It hasn't sunk in yet, and when it does, I sure hope I'm happy about it!! He's happy though, so that's all that matters to me. Wow. :-2

Hey BR, AKA Blown Mind, ya just never know do ya. Surprises can come at you from many different angles. Maybe Bullet as you said was frustrated with things in the BA, & thought changing patches would help take his mind off his pending problems. It seems like it will be a life altering change for him, and now as well for you. So just hang in there it could be the best thing he has ever done. Just curious though, will there be a possibility of any hard feelings from the BA's towards Bullet for making the patch change? Also if he didn't like the new club as much as he thought he would, could he go back to the BA's? Well, GOOD LUCK & best wishes to you both, I'm sure it will work out for you guys!! :)

I doubt there will be many hard feelings, and if there are, it will be from members who are part of the problems that caused Bullet to make this decision in the first place. Not a big concern. As far as going back? M/C's are like going through school....you've got kindergarten (riding clubs) you've got middle school, (Blue Angels, Prejudged, other "mom and pop" clubs) high school, (Liberty Riders, Iron Coffins, etc...) and you've got college (Hell's Angels, Outlaws, etc.) He would never make a step back down even if they would have him back, which they probably would.

It's going to be a VERY interesting couple of weeks, and I'm really looking forward to meeting my new family on Wednesday. I'll keep you guys posted. Apparently, the Liberty Riders have a huge hunting lodge on 80 acres up north somewhere, so that's a MAJOR selling point for me!!

I love to shoot skeet and target shoot, yes, but when I hunt, I only bow hunt. Hunting with a rifle is just too easy, if you ask me.

Cars covered everything I wanted to ask. Seems congratulations are in order. I take it you have to be invited in rather than asking to join?

Well, this is interesting.

Having never been a "biker", all of this is Greek to me. But very interesting. Does Bullet want to be a Hell's Angel? Interesting.

For a second, I thought that Liberty Riders was the Patriot Guard. But I see they are two different groups and the Patriot Guard doesn't seem to be a "club".

You can ask to join, you have to do a 6-month "hang-around" time for the brothers to get to know you, and then a vote is taken on whether or not to allow you to probie. A probationary period can last anywhere from 90 days to one year, depending on the club.

But the LR actively pursued Bullet. He met them at their house last night and they told him they wanted him, and what would it take? They talked for a few hours, and then Bullet cut off his Blue Angels patch and got a Liberty Riders vest. He is a full-fledged member. Even the guys who were probieing last night treated him like a member, fetching his beer, racking his pool games, etc. This is truly bizarre and doesn't happen very often.

Hell no!!!! Hell's Angel's are a whole other scene. While Liberty Riders order of priorities is "Family, job, club" the Hell's Angels are "Club, family, job." If you are given an order that interferes with your job, you have to say screw the job and take care of club business first. The club comes before everything, including your family. Between that and the fact that the Hell's Angels deal in illegal activity he does not want to go that route.

There are benefits to all types of clubs, incuding Hell's Angels, don't think that it's one-sided.

Say Bullet was a Hell's Angel and he (God FORBID) went to prison for this crap going on, the Hell's Angels would take care of me, paying the bills that I couldn't and such.

Wow BR, now I have to admit that I know absolutely nothing about Biker Clubs but I find it all quite interesting. I had a friend in Germany called Robin who was a member of a club called the Ballerinas. It was an unusual name considering Robin is 6ft 2 and about 300 lbs. I hope everything works out for you guys. :)

I sure hope so! I've met a few Liberty Riders at Blue Angel functions, but don't really know any of them. I'm bursting with curiosity about them, and I can't wait to see our new clubhouse.

Oooh....the Banditos, huh? Tough group. Notorious.

Texas....that's a Hell's Angel state, right?

I haven't seen any Hell's Angels at any functions we've been to. But we have been on mostly poker runs and such for charities. I'm hoping this labor day we might get to go to Durango for their big rally.

The banditoes are tough, we avoid them.

If the Hell's Angels have a rally in Durango, then yes, Texas is a HA state. Between the two major powers among clubs, (Hell's Angels and Outlaws) each club "owns" certain states. They are the dominant power in their respective states and all activities regarding other clubs have to be approved by the dominant club of that state.

Just because you don't see them much, does not mean they aren't there. Lots of members of the major powers don't advertise much or wear their rags in public on a daily basis.

A very good idea to avoid the Banditos. They are a dangerous group.

I think, I still cant quite tell how you fit into all this? Are you a Liberty Rider by his association or do you have to also be accepted as well?

Pardon my ignorance. I just dont know rider clubs???

But the fact that they sought him out makes big difference! Im glad for ya!
I am not a Liberty Rider. Women are not members and that is the general rule for most M/C's. There are a couple exceptions. Prejudged, for example, allows it's women to have a voice in the club. They attend meetings, take part in the votes, and generally are as involved as the men, but no female is a Prejudged member without her ol' man. Their back patches are different, as are most female colors.

I am accepted to the degree that I am Bullet's ol' lady and they respect me and treat me as a sister, but I do not go through any "probationary" period. I am just Bullet's woman. There are women's clubs, though very rarely are they M/C. The letters "M/C" on the back patch is significant. A group of men cannot just say, "Hey, let's start up an M/C" and think of a cool name and get patches made up and run around like they are an established club. Very rarely do you see new clubs crop up. In fact, a group here in Mt. Clemens gave it a shot last summer, and it didn't make it. The dominant club in Michigan shut them down and stripped them of their colors.

SO. In an effort to answer your question, no, I am not a Liberty Rider, but I can wear the female patch that is flown under Bullet's rags. I have no voice, no position, no say in any club business.

Does that make sense, or am I confusing the issue even more?

And yes, the fact that they pursued Bullet is highly significant. Makes me very proud of him.

Word is starting to get around that he's jumped patch, and the next few days are going to be very interesting.

SOJOURNER wrote: Please educate me. What do members bring to the club? Why is someone pursued to become a member?
That's a great question Sojo. Members are pursued because they have proven themselves worthy of wearing colors and for their heart. Belonging to a club is serious committment, and some take it more seriously than others. You have brothers and you have patch holders. Bullet is a brother. A brother is someone who can be counted on, all the time, day or night. Bullet has a thing he tells new members that makes a lot of sense. "Telling your brother you'll kill or die for them is easy. But can you LIVE for them? Can you be there when he calls you at 4 in the morning because he's drunk and his ol' lady kicked him out of the house? Can you be there if he just wants to talk? Killing for a brother is easy, it's living for him that's hard."

Bullet has shown his heart, and that means something to clubs. When they see what kind of brother he is, they say, "He's one we want with us."
