What's for dinner??

Post by sunny104 »

I'm making thick, center cut pork chops, pan seared so they're nice and juicy, my "famous" garlic & olive oil roast taters and garden salad! :)

I cooked the most incredibly moist and tasty pork steaks with New potatoes, carrots, onions, broccoli, peas, mushrooms, herbs and Roast vegetable gravy.

Mmm mmmmm.

I did 4 portions and took one round for my Mom so I had to pick the mushrooms out for her.

If she doesn't think it's amazing I'll eat my hat (with her mushrooms) :)

Well as we just finished the extra portions, March 7th is no day to be out for our friends with trotters either.

I've just got a dinner I cooked last week out of the freezer for tomorrow. Thai Green Curry with Chicken breast, onions, mushrooms, a few very thinly sliced potatoes and green peppers. Will go down the hatch very well accompanied by Basmati rice with Coriander. I can guarantee it.

Chicken Kiev (chicken breast de-boned and rolled around a lump of butter and garlic, dipped in flour then a flour thickened beaten egg (a thin batter), rolled in a breadcrumb / matzo meal mix, and roast for 20 mins.

We bought some Asparagus (obviously imported) and had it with the Kievs with boiled Basmati rice to soak up the melted garlic butter that splurges out as you stab ‘em.

For ‘pud’, “er indoors” made her Schwartzwalderart Sonderschokoladenkuchen (Black Forest style special chocolate cake, aka 'heart attack on a plate').

It’s very simple and quick.

Just take a tin (can) of good quality cherry pie filling (with a few extra spoons of sugar) and an el-cheepo chocolate cake mix made up as per instructions but with added drinking chocolate drink mix (powder) and a gurt big glob of cream to make it really rich.

The cherry pie filling goes into a pyrex bowl, the mix is poured over the top, and the whole thing gets slammed into the micro for around 6 mins (800 watt beast).

Let it stand for around 15 mins by which time the chocolate cake mix will have shrunk slightlyfrom the pyrex bowl edges, then pile gurt chunks of it into soup bowls and smother with lots of double cream.

We don’t do health food in our house.

Or was that a rhetorical question?:-2

No , I've never heard that expression before although looking back it seems obvious. I'm afraid no-ones interested in keeping me right now, but watch this space.

Over here we only have zoo-keepers, park-keepers, goal-keepers, lighthouse-keepers, wicket-keepers and finders-keepers.
