Going on a Trip

Post by Sheryl »

My birthday is coming up. My mom has decided for my present, she's going to watch the kids for me, so I can take a mini vacation. So I'm going to get a 2 night 3 day vacation. I have not the slightest clue as to where I would like to go. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't want to have to drive far!

I might be showing my ignorance here, but isn't everywhere in Texas 'far'?

From the panhandle? If you're driving, how far are you from the Grand Canyon?

Grand Canyon is a good shout, I would say its like the Taj Mahal or Great Wall - something you should see before you die

It's 715.1 miles from my house, and is a 11 hour drive. :D

I think that you should take into account that extra 0.1 miles and leave home 6 seconds earlier.

A figure that always sticks in my mind is that from Villa Park in Birmingham to The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff is 101.6 miles, which is the same number of millimetres in 4 inches.

I need to get out more. :o

Isn't Texas counted as the south in USA?

Or is it only the states that broke away for the civil war?

I need to seriously study US history & geography.....:o

Please bear with Stewart - he still thinks of Texas as a defunct DIY chain in the UK :wah:

Is that wild west theme park still running? I don't remember where it was, but it was a little piece of Texas in the middle of England. *sigh*

Would need to be a very little piece. Texas is bigger than Britain & France put together!

But Country & Western has a big following in UK. It tends towards the Nashville Big-Hair-And-Tassled-Clothes end of C&W, but Johnny Cash is also big here, especially after he played Glastonbury

Get your mum to keep the kids at her house and stay in bed all weekend!

Use your travel money to fly Clipper in and he can bring you amazing breakfasts, brunches and suppers in bed! ;) (All those crumbs in the bed should exfoliate your skin nicely too! hehe) :wah:

I love it! A regional get-together.

Is it feasible, Sheryl? The River Walk and Alamo are world-famous.

I'm pretty sure it is, I'll know more after Monday. But I haven't been to the Alamo or the Riverwalk since I was 9.
