When I was in the fourth grade, my teacher said " Weeder, your in charge of bringing in passes for the boys and girls room. I went home and told my dad. He cut two blocks of wood. Maybe 8 by 8 inches square. Drilled a whole in the top for a rope. Carved girls on one... boys on the other. Stained and varnished them. The teacher was amazed. Thought they were great. Much more than she expected. My dad said. " Whatever project you do... do it well. Take your time.. draw straight lines.. always be very very neat. I am not a master of any trade. But Ive dabbled in many. Ive used his advice whenever Ive done anything. The practice has served me well. My presentations and projects have always been well received.. even though they are very simple. In an era where landscape plans are done on a computer, Ive always drawn mine by hand, on graph paper. I use colored pencils to draw the shrubbery and plants. Always cover the project in a plastic cover sheet. Label my meaurements and calculations neatly. My clients love them.
They feel they are personalized, and creative. Thanks Dad!

I know you didn't mean that as a dig, Nomad, but it sounds like one. Weeder's talking about taking pride in your work, not being excessively nit-picking. "Anal Retentive" has bad connotations to most of us.
And Weeder, good for you. Internal self-motivation and self esteem are the most valuable parts of a well-balanced personalty.
You are also talking about a good work ethic, the ability to not only finish a job, but to finish it with style.
;)

Thank you Jives. Thats correct. Take pride in what you do. Do a great job, even on a simple project.. Dont mind Nomad... he jokes about everything. I dont mind.
These small lessons can have a great effect on the things we do later on in life. My dad was a bus driver. He isnt a brilliant man. But whatever he does, he does to the best of his ability.
