Nice idea Clipper, but it would never float. Most Senior Citizens here just don't want to be bothered, less alone volunteering for something and go through a screening process. I've been told by many that they've done their duty already...now it's someone else's turn. :)

It would be nice, are they going to get paid more then $5 a day? That is what some states give, not even enough to pay for the parking.:-1

When Seniors are called for duty here, they try one way or the other to get out it. They just don't want to be bothered. Free pick up and delivery is already instilled here, regardless if they are handicapped...they can be transported and helped to motivate around. Whoppie do is their response to what they would get paid. :) Medical testing and evaluations....they are progged and probed enough, why would they want to go through more of it. IMHO....it won't float.

I think it's a great idea! And it wouldn't need to be limited to seniors, then they can leave those of us that don't wish to be jurors alone!

Doesn't the County seat have to fund this? Would taxpayers be willing to go along with this? :-3

Not sure I would want to spend my precious retirement days sitting in a court room...interesting idea though.

I really like your idea hunny... and if it would hunt, I'd say that dog should make up 50% of the jury... many criminals are young, and they must be judged by a jury of their peers. Someone over a certain age may not even understand the "Modern" circumstances of the crime. Great idea though!

At age 71 I certainly qualify as a senior. I have always wanted to serve on a jury, but alas, have been called upon 10 times over the years but never selected. BTW---most of my peer group would love to serve on a jury.

If I were a 30 year old defendant I would not like a jury of geriatric citizens deciding my fate. Seniors may have the life experiences and hopefully the wisdom that may go with it, but unfortunately are also pretty set in their thinking and in my view, may lack objectivity.
