The Journey Of A Mother
>
>
>For those who are fortunate enough to still be blessed by having
>your Mom with you, this is beautiful...For those who aren't...
>it is even more beautiful. It takes my breath!
>
>
>The young mother set her foot on the path of life.
>"Is this the long way?" she asked.
>
>And the guide said "Yes, and the way is hard. And you
>will be old before you reach the end of it. But the end
>will be better than the beginning."
>
>But the young mother was happy, and she would not
>believe that anything could be better than these years.
>So she played with her children, she fed them and bathed
>them, and taught them how to tie their shoes and ride a
>bike and reminded them to feed the dog, and do their
>homework and brush their teeth. The sun shone on
>them, and the young Mother cried,
>"Nothing will ever be lovelier than this."
>
>Then the nights came, and the storms, and the path
>was sometimes dark, and the children shook with
>fear and cold, and the mother drew them close and
>covered them with her arms, and the children said,
>"Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near,
>and no harm can come."
>
>And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead,
>and the children climbed and grew weary, and the
>mother was weary. But at all times she said to the children,
>"A little patience and we are there." So the children climbed,
>and as they climbed they learned to weather the storms.
>And with this, she gave them strength to face the world.
>Year after year, she showed them compassion,
>understanding, hope, but most of all...unconditional love.
>And when they reached the top they said,
>"Mother, we would not have done it without you."
>
>The days went on, and the weeks and the months and
>the years, and the mother grew old and she became
>little and bent. But her children were tall and strong,
>and walked with courage. And the mother, when she
>lay down at night, looked up at the stars and said,
>"This is a better day than the last, for my children
>have learned so much and are now passing these
>traits on to their children."
>
>And when the way became rough for her, they lifted her,
>and gave her their strength, just as she had given them hers.
>One day they came to a hill, and beyond the hill, they could
>see a shining road and golden gates flung wide.
>And mother said: "I have reached the end of my journey.
>And now I know the end is better than the beginning,
>for my children can walk with dignity and pride,
>with their heads held high, and so can their children
>after them. And the children said, "You will always walk
>with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates."
>And they stood and watched her as she went on alone,
>and the gates closed after her. And they said:
>"We cannot see her, but she is with us still.
>A Mother like ours is more than a memory.
>She is a living presence."
>
>Your Mother is always with you.
>She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the
>street, she's the smell of certain foods you remember,
>flowers you pick and perfume that she wore, she's
>the cool hand on your brow when you're not feeling well,
>she's your breath in the air on a cold winter's day.
>She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep,
>the colors of a rainbow, she is Christmas morning.
>Your Mother lives inside your laughter.
>
>And she's crystallized in every tear drop. A mother shows
>every emotion ...happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy,
>love, hate, anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow...
>and all the while, hoping and praying you will only
>know the good feelings in life.
>
>She's the place you came from, your first home,
>and she's the map you follow with every step you take.
>She's your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy,
>but nothing on earth can separate you.
>Not time, not space...not even death!
>
>
>PASS THIS ON TO ALL THE MOTHERS AND
>DAUGHTERS AND SONS YOU KNOW....
>MAY WE NEVER TAKE OUR MOTHERS FOR GRANTED.
>

>they must be felt with the heart."

The Journey of a Mother
The Journey of a Mother
I thought some of you might enjoy this and wanted to share it for Mother's Day -
SOMEBODY SAID...............
Somebody said that a child is carried in its mother's
womb for nine months.
Somebody does not know that a child is carried in its
mother's heart forever.
Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to
normal after you've had a baby.
Somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, normal
is history.
Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct.
Somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.
Somebody said being a mother is boring.
Somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a
driver's permit.
Somebody said if you're a "good" mother, your child will
"turn out good."
Somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a
guarantee.
Somebody said "good" mothers never raise their voices.
Somebody never came out the back door just in time to see
her child hit a golf ball through the neighbour’s kitchen
window.
Somebody said you don't need an education to be a mother.
Somebody never helped a fourth grader with his math.
Somebody said you can't love the fifth child as much as
you love the first.
Somebody doesn't have five children.
Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her
child-rearing questions in the books.
Somebody never had a child stuff beans up his nose.
Somebody said it is OK to take your anger out on your
mother she will understand.
Somebody needs to understand that mother will not live
forever and should not have to understand.
Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labour
and delivery.
Somebody never watched her "baby" get on
the bus for the first day of kindergarten.
Somebody said a mother can do her job with her eyes
closed and one hand tied behind her back.
Somebody never organized seven giggling Brownies to sell
cookies.
Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child
gets married.
Somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a
new son- or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings.
Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child
leaves home.
Somebody never had grandchildren.
Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you
don't need to tell her.
Somebody isn't a mother.
Somebody said you don't need to visit your mother more
than once a year, she knows you still love her and
understand why.
Somebody never looked into the eyes of
that mother to her soul.

The Journey of a Mother
Where does Mom keep her memories?
In a box worn beyond repair,
Tucked inside are memories,
Ask and she will gladly share.
Tattered Valentines "To Mommy With Love,
"Papers boasting "Good Work... Well Done!"
A handprint small and fragile,
Blue ribbons proudly won.
Macaroni shells that once formed a flower,
A baby picture smudged with kisses,
The first tooth the Fairy spared,
Cards of IOU's and loving wishes.
Where does Mom keep her memories?
In a box this precious cargo rests
Reminiscent of days long past,
This box of love is her treasure chest.

The Journey of a Mother
"Just For Moms and Mothers"
This is for all the mothers who froze their cabooses
off on metal bleachers at soccer games
so that when their kids asked, "Did you see my goal?"
they could say,"Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world,"
and mean it.
This is for all the mothers who have sat up all night with sick children
in their arms, wiping up barf laced with Oscar Meyer wieners
and cherry Kool-Aid saying, "It's ok honey, Mommy's here."
This is for all the mothers of Kosovo who fled in the
night and can't find their children.
This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll
never see and for the mothers who took those babies
and gave them homes.
For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew
Halloween costumes.
What makes a good mother anyway? Is it patience?
Compassion? The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner,
and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time?
Or is it heart?
Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter
disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time?
The jolt that takes you from sleeping at 2 a.m.
to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby?
Is it the need to flee from wherever you are and hug
your child when you hear news of a school shooting,
a fire, a car accident, a baby dying? I think so.
This is for reading"Goodnight, Moon" twice a night
for a year. And then reading it again,
"Just one more time".
This is for all the mothers who taught their children to tie their shoelaces
before they started to school and for all the mothers
who opted for Velcro instead.
For all the mothers who bit their lips (sometimes until
they bleed) when their 14 year olds dyed their hair green.
This is for all mothers who show up at work with spit-up in their hair
and diapers in their purse.
This is for mothers who teach their sons to cook and
their daughters to sink a jump shot.
This is for all mothers whose heads turn automatically
when a little voice calls "Mom?" in a crowd,
even though they know their own offsprings are at home or are grown.
This is for mothers who put pinwheels and teddy bears
on their children's graves.
This is for all the mothers whose children have gone astray
and who can't find words to reach them.
This is for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation. And mature mothers learning to let go.
For working moms and stay-at-home moms.
Single mothers and married mothers.
Mothers with money and mothers without.
This is for you, so hang in there.
The world would be a terrible place without
the love of mothers everywhere.
You make it a more civil, caring and safe place
for the precious children in our world.
Please pass along to all mothers in your life!!!
Or to anyone whom you love.
"Home is what catches you when you fall -
and we all fall".

The Journey of a Mother
I love this poem:
I saw a young mother
With eyes full of laughter
And two little shadows
Came following after.
Wherever she moved,
They were always right there
Holding onto her skirts,
Hanging onto her chair.
Before her, behind her-
An adhesive pair.
"Don't you ever get weary
As, day after day,
Your two little tagalongs
Get in your way?"
She smiled as she shook
Her pretty young head,
And I'll always remember
The words that she said :
"It's good to have shadows
That run when you run,
That laugh when you're happy
And hum when you hum -
For you only have shadows
When your life's filled with sun."
