Welcome to FG, Ge0rge. You'll find pretty flowers, a few weeds and even some manure, for fertilizing purposes of course.

Enjoy, and have fun. :yh_peace

Hey there Georgy-Boy, tra la la... didn't that used to be a great song in the sixties??

A friend introduced me to Dandelion and Burdock......yeuch!! it has to be the most disgusting drink I've ever tried! :p (sorry to fans of D&B...but really, I mean, come on.................................... ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!) :wah:

Still, welcome to FG! And to make up for my comments I'll let you know that Asda sell that yucky drink! *shudders* I'll buy you a beer next time you're in Bothwells - convert you to drinking something decent! ;)

BTW, whereabouts in London do you live? I lived in N.W. London for 10 years.

Hi Nomad,

LOL not sure what your asking for exactly.

Lets see moved to London when I was about 4. So been here about 40 years. Currently we are about 5 to 10 minutes from Tower Bridge and London Bridge.

I've always worked in London and am raising my daughter here. I work with autistic and children with serious emotional and behavioural problems.

I'm also on the tenants management committee. Basicly this is the tenants running the estate on behalf of the council. So we hire our own staff, do most of the maintainance ourselves as well as maintain the public areas. At the moment we are looking to regenerate much of the open space.

One thing I'm keen on is looking opening the committee's perception of our community in relation to the wider community around us. Currently I'm working on involving our local special needs school to taking care of some of our raised flower beds so they are able to provide practical work experiance. I've begun negotiations with a private school which borders our estate next to a concrete football pitch we look after. The idea is for some joint venture which would allow the school to use the area as a playground during school time and as part of their saturday club which is open to all local children. Other times it wil be an amenity for local people.

Another idea which is in very early stages is a partnership with the Tate Modern Gallery as part of their youth and community outreach. As it has not been decided what format this will take I cannot say much more on it.

One of our grant providers has put us in touch with the people who run the community service program - those who have offended and ordered to do community service rather then prison. They will be fixing/replacing our bin keep doors in a pilot scheme. We provide the materials, they provide the labour at much reduced cost.

I am trying to see if we can get Learn Direct to be involved with the community as well in advertising what they do. Either so those who don't speak English can get help, or for those who do extra qualifications to improve their job prospects.

We have two children play areas with playground equipment on them. One will be replaced with a rock garden, the other will be turned into a family area/sensory garden - subject to consultations.

So short of being born here, I work hard paid and voluntary to better the lives of people in my community, how much that makes me a Londoner I leave for others to decide.

As for Georgeness lets see.

I am a pagan. I believe that there is a force which unites us with everything else in the physical and spiritual world. For want of a better word I call it Love. However unlike others interpretation of what love is I do not believe it is good or evil or even cares what we do. It is for us to choose how we use this force, either for those around us or for ourselves.

I do not attempt to attribute this force to any being/God. In private meditation I will focus on the Mother. If I am responding to someones request or prayers or thought I prefer to focus on the deity they believe in to focus my meditations. I don't care which path others follow and believe we are each where we need to be where this is concerned.

For myself my life is guided by a simple principal, that the good I do outweighs the bad and if I leave the world a little better, made some lives more fulfilling then I would consider myself a success and my life worthwhile. So service to the community is very important to me - bet that came as a surprise ;)

I am passionate about education for everyone in that I believe it empowers people to make more of their lives.

I have a wonderful wife and beautiful daughter who are the most important things to me in the world.

LOL just read this over and should point out I'm far from perfect. I make mistakes and have a bad smoking habit. Recently tried to kick it but failed, will try again later. I'm over weight, but this due to lack of exercise because of long term back problems. I guess I am what a lot of people refer to as the loony left, but do have some strong opinions on law and order, discipline etc. which aren't quite left, but certainly not conservative.

Thats me in a nutshell, but if you have any more questions feel free to ask them :)

Hi there Repunzel :)

Yep I know Asda do it, but nothing like I remember from my youth. And The Seekers song was Georgy Girl LOL

It will be interesting to see what you consider a decent drink. I don't normally drink but have heard a good real beer is not like much of the rubbish sold in many pubs.

I live in the centre of London.

I like the picture of spongebob on your post. I love body art, especially when it is well done.

Hi Samantha and welcome to the forum :)

The big O is actually a big zero 0. No real significance other then George tends to be already used along with variations of numbers after it. More often then not I don't have problems if I replace the o with a 0.

As you can keep secrets... just to mention... did you know...

yep need to sort my avatar out at some point I guess.
