hey gang need a bit of info if anyone knows..

Ive been suffering from headaches for awhile now and didnt think to much of it, just straining my eyes studying l thought..

Welll now and then l get a bad one that pain killers will not shake, l had one of these on Tuesday and it would not go..when l awoke this morning and looked in hte mirror l got a shock... (NO JOKES PLEASE!)

Mt left eye has quite an amount of leaked blood in hte white tissue. Its mainly under the top lid and does look pretty gruesome..

I know it could be linked to blood pressure, but does anyone else have any ideas..?:(

I would have it checked out by your dr, venus. Headaches could be caused by lots of underlying conditions.

Thanks betty, sheryl and you snooze for looking it up for me..:-4

Its not conjunctivitis, as lve had that once before and its nothing like it.

I do have a docs appointment in hte morning to get it checked out.

I spoke to hte nurse there this morning and she thinks it might be blood pressure related..which l will find odd as l have great preesure, but it might explain the headaches..

Sounds like a cluster headache, how long have you been getting them for?

Good idea to get the doctors appointment..make sure you keep hydrated as well..

It sounds more like a migraine than a simple headache you would be suprised what stress can do. For migraine sometimes simply having a sleep in a blacked out bedroom with the appropriate painkillers and making sure you dont become dehydrated can somtimes work- well it used to work for me and i used to get headaches that lasted a couple of days .Also maybe a trip to the opticians it may help - you may need to have glasses for particular things- good luck. ..also lavender oil on your pillow helps to de stress .

Thankyou all for those suggestions etc

Went to the docs and got checked out, blood pressure etc is ok..

May have to go for blood tests though to see if there is an issue somewhere if the headaches continue and pain meds do not help..

not looking forward to blood tests, mention needle and my veins hide and it takes then several attempts (record is 15) to get bloos out of me..

IM NEEDLE PHOBIC so lm normally a white quivering wreck as l walk in there....:(

I remember when first pregnant with my nightmare, ahem love of my life l mean..

I had to go for a check up and get the obligatory blood test. I was shaking in my boots literally and was terrified of the( gulp ) needle.

So out comes the nurse asking for me and l send in two others while l try to gather the nerve...

eventually she looks at me and says, 'its only a little prick you know!'

to which l retorted, 'thats what got me here in the first place!!':wah:

many chuckles of laughter, and no the laughter did not help, it still hurt like crazy as she prodded...

Well I hope they do more than blood work on you. A headache so powerful that it makes your blood vessels in your eye bleed in not just a headache. If I can be so bold as to suggest you may need to see a nuerologist, as well as needing a Cat Scan of your head. Don't wait with this headache Venus you need to be totally checked out head to toes.. Just to make sure nothing else is going on..

good advice Carla, but unfortunately over here you have to be half dead before they will put you through anything but the most basic of tests...

though if the blood test says anything iffy l will push em like a jcb to get tests..

thankyou guys, nice to know you can share stuff like this..:D

Venus, it sounds alot like sinus problems. Sinus headaches and pressure will cause the blood vessels in your eyes to break and make it look like your eyes are bleeding. Do you have allergies? Hayfever? Could be just a simple sinus infection. Dont panic lass. Cool cloth over the eyes and a cool dark room to rest in. Use an extra pillow so you are not lying flat. See if that doesnt help.

(I know what you mean about the 'spoons' they use to extract blood!)

Good luck sweety!:-6

a couple broken capillaries. you're going to be fine! Venus, funny you should say that. Bothwell told me if i had my heart attack in England i probably would have died, not had a world-class cardiologist operate. i can't dissuade you from needle phobia, but maybe i can make you laugh...last time in hospital the nurses could not get a vein. it took nine stabs!! i tell you what, the nurses were crying and i was threatening to shoot them. :wah: the doctor ran like hell and never came back!

Yep. Thats where I would place my bet! And as for pain, Ibuprofin. It's an anti-inflammatory. You will feel good as new in no time.

"it's not a growth". i never saw him again. :yh_rotfl i am still wondering what they wrote in my records about being some deranged lunatic. that's the trick! make them think you're crazy!

cant touch the stuff, have stomache complaints..IBS and an issue going for years with my gall bladder. reflux and gastroentiritis at the drop of a hat..

and it just irretates it

lve been taking paramol..seems to do the job, the doc will not give me any more dihydrocodine, becaus eof the addictive possibilities and he said that l could have a real scary rupture or something and because thay are so strong l would not know it.

I had 30 and they lasted me a year and a half, l only took em when l was really sobbing with the pain and was exhausted and needed sleep.

so lm now back to thte hot water bottle trick and the paramol.:(

Oooh I'm sorry you have had such a hard time with people drawing your blood venus. My mom is the manager of the lab at our local hospital, she also teaches a phelbotomy(how to draw blood) class. If you don't want them to stick you directly with a needle, ask if they have a butterfly needle. The needle is smaller and less painful.

NO NOT HOT!! Trust me! I'm a nurse! You need cool stuff! Ice! It takes the swelling down! Hot acts like a vasodilator. Cool, shrinks them back to normal. Makes the red go away. As long as you are taking something that helps the pain, good!

I think its because the heat on my tummy distracts me and gives me something else to concentrase on. its a pain though if lm running a temp at the same time...

I'm so sorry you are afraid of needles Venus!! It must be awful... maybe you

could do that therapy where they just show you PICTURES first, etc.

and slowly get you used to them?

Me, I been gettin' stuck with them between four and six times a year for

34 years... when I donate blood. Had some little things here and there

(bruising maybe) but no biggie...

Venus It could very well be Sinus issues, but if you can force them to check out other thing as well do so. Headaches can be so many things and some are serious and some aren't. Better safe than sorry. I truly hope its sinus even so that is painful and there are many new meds for sinus issues now. Keep us posted..;)

Well the news is my pressure when checked was fine..

I have recently stopped taking a contraceptive injection and this may have been a factor in hte change in hormones, blood pressure etc.

My dad does suffer with his sinus's so l am asking my doctor to consider this for the headaches as my dad is going in to get his drilled to asist them in draining..

So the sinus possibility may be the winner here, also l now do not spend hours reading a book and getting stresed in front of my pc. I walk away when my head feels like it needsthe break and l do not stress as this only makes work harder..

if l get anything else l will let you know!;)
