Can someone please help.
We turned our fax line into a broadband line and now run both the fax and internet from the same line.
We have a ASDL filter on the broadband socket. From this we have a lead directly from the ASDL part of the filter into the computer. The fax runs from the phone socket on the filter.
Everything works well until one of our machines starts up in the factory. At this point we lose the broadband connection. I can get it back by unplugging the fax.
I purchased an ASDL modem surge protector but this just renders the modem constantly unusable - it just 'pings'.
Unless someone can suggest anything I think my only option would be to get another BT fax line, independent of broadband. Apart from the speed this would seem to make the broadband line an expensive option.

I assume you can make this factory machine turn on and off when you want to? Otherwise tracking the error is going to take a long time.
How many devices have you got plugged into the phone line, overall, in all your rooms?
Unplug everything from the phone line (from all sockets), including the splitter, and put back just the modem. See if you can get it to trip out by cycling the factory machine. If you can't, then that's good. If you can, you need a wiring call-out from your phone company.
Assuming that was OK, put back just the splitter and the fax machine. Can you trip the modem by cycling the factory machine now? If you can, (1) replace the splitter (they're £2) and if necessary after that (2) put the fax machine on a different phone socket (you have 2 splitters to do that, at this point).
Are you any closer to being fixed, after this?
