Judging others is a dangerous thing.
Not so much because you might make a mistake about them, but because you may be revealing the truth about yourself.
Take care.

And why, exactly, do you think revealing the truth about yourself could be a dangerous thing, Gordon?

I find it's not the darker little bits of me that I'm aware of, that I find uncomfortable...I can control those. It's the ones that disguise themselves in my judgment of other people that are difficult to accept...which perhaps is what Gordon is alluding to?

but its not possible to be perfect so if we accept that we are not then the above shouldent be an issue
we can only strive to be nicer people

We all have our 'dark' and 'lighter sides, that's what makes us humans. In most of us the lighter side dominates, but sometimes the dark bits come to the surface....I think that's OK....we're not Saints are we?
Whether we go public with the 'dark' bits is up for debate....I think it's better to be open.....true friends will not condemn, but help, advise and support. The very act of 'revealing all' can be 'cleansing' I guess.
Now I'm a one to talk !!!! I have a concrete wall a foot thick round me....but on the occasions when the walls crumbled a bit, I have felt better.....good luck :-6

Yes, I do agree, self acceptance of good and not so good traits is the key... but I still find it disconcerting when I discover things about myself that are only revealed when I project them on to other people....and I find it doubly difficult when I realise that my judgment of other people is speaking volumes about me and very little about them.

Judging others is a dangerous thing.
If we judge others, it's what we do with that judgment. Does it carry over into our "conversations" with them, or do we control anything that shouldn't influence us? There is nothing wrong with judging others, as long as we examine this and deal with it.

Is having an opinion about someone the same as judging them?

Well...if anyone here thinks that I myself believe that I am pure as the driven snow, they haven't read a word I've ever written. I know myself, am largely happy with myself, and know what needs to be worked on.
I have done stupid things, I have done really bad things, I have done illegal things. Nope. No purity here. But I sure have learned a lot! :yh_bigsmi

I think we judge others when they dont conform to the world we create for ourselves. We build our own fortresses and surround ourselves with like minded individuals. If someone saunters in with different perspectives than our own we feel threatened by the unfamiliarity or maybe we ridicule others in an act of aggression. That creates intolerance. In my mind intolerance is mankinds most dangerous shortcoming. If we could exercise tolerance we wouldnt have much left to kill eachother over.
