John Otway's playing the Rhythm Festival!
Hey guys, it might only be small but the Rhythm Festival in August just outside Bedford has managed to book John Otway almost on his home turf. There's a few other performers too, but... has anyone seen him on stage? He's stunning. It'll be wow.

When flower power came along I stood for Human Rights, marched around for peace and freedom, had some nooky every night - we took it serious.
Who has a spare two minutes to play in this month's FG Trivia game! ... My other OS is Slackware.

Woa. That's just down the road from me.:yh_whistl :yh_laugh :yh_doh :yh_dance
That's between a quarter and half a mile from me (a mile the long way round). I can hear Glenn Miller Band from my home when they play (and they do regularly 'cos the Glenn Miller Museum is in my village).

I've enjoyed worse line-ups than that in my time.

Let's see, now. The Blues Band ain't bad. Chas and Dave (groan). Culture Clash can be good. Desmond Dekker - just so happens I like his music. Donovan (must remember my walking stick). The Dylan Project - never heard of them (http://www.dylanproject.co.uk/), but they could be worth a listen. Jah Wobble - roots reggae, a cross between dub reggae and rap without the shouting, it's more poetry based. Jerry Lee Lewis - needs no introduction. John Otway!! Nine Below Zero - the name rings a bell from somewhere(?). Roy Harper - no introduction necessary.
I'd rather go than listen to the windblown strains from my place.

Good lord, you missed out Arlo Guthrie - I've wanted to see him on stage since I was six!

Haha. Trouble is, I'm getting him confused with John Guthrie. Remember him?

As an aside, should I mention the Big Session Festival at De Montfort Hall, Leicester, June 16-18?
Oysterband, Levellers Acoustic, Chumbawamba Acoustic, June Tabor, Nizlopi, Seth Lakeman, Spiers & Boden, Martin Simpson, Jackie Leven, Martha Tilston, Warsaw Village Band, T & La Touche, Julie Fowlis, The Eighteenth Day Of May, Tiny Tin Lady, Hayley Hutchinson, Alan Prosser/Brendan Power/Lucy Randall, Random Ceilidh Band, sessions, slam poetry, real food, real beer and real music.
Box office: 0116 233 3111 and http://www.bigsessionfestival.com
Of those the Oysterband, though led by a guy who gives all the appearance of thinking he's the Second Coming, wins hands down. And the real beer, of course.

Sounds like a lot of fun, Spot. Take photos so I can live vicariously through you, alright?I'm sure if you came you'd enjoy it.

What? Snooze, you read the most perverse meanings into the most innocent comments, I've never met anyone like you. I've still not quite got over you refering to me as your favorite spot the other week, either. Honi soit qui mal y pense, as they say up north!

There are some beers that are very strong in alcohol content. It's important to read the label first.
As an aside, what they didn't mention is that while beer isn't fattening, the body tends to burn the alcohol before anything else. Therefore, anything you eat gets stored as fat.
