I discovered Skype. Its unbelievable! You download it on your computer, for free... get a headset, or phone, or webcam. Plug in and call anywhere in the world for free! I just plugged it in yesterday. Had a couple of 3 way conference calls in England. I am amazed. At the worlds fair in the 60's the telephone company had a pavillion that showed all of this technology for the future... and here it is.

Remarkable!

MOTTO TO LIVE BY:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

I put Skype on last night, free as stated. I've not long enjoyed a call as clear as a bell, I could even hear little background noises originating from the other end of the call. I would like to try a conference call sometime. If you're prepared to pay, it's also possible to be able to call landlines and mobiles. There is a charge for this as you will be using the telephone network at some point, but Skype will take you to the local exchange so that you only pay for a local call (not sure if or how that works for mobiles).

The person I just spoke to said that they could hear a small amount of humming from my end. It occurred to me after the call that this may have been my PC humming.:D

There was a slight time delay on my call to the US and i could hear my own voice echoing...did you get this OM ? Other than that it was clearer than a mobile ...fantastic, i really feel elated .... I sat here like a real 'wally' with a big grin on my face.:D

Made a US call this morning and I did experience a lot of echo, I had to turn down the volume because it was hurting. The deelay was almost negligible, it simply meant that we talked over each other sometimes.

I did experience another problem and apparently I'm not alone on this, neither is it particular to any one person or area in the US. White noise would occur shutting out all sound making it impossible to talk at all. It was necesssary to turn off and remake the connection. I'm not sure at this point what is causing this. I think it may be necessary to contact Skype about this.

Im not calling anyone right now... Because I have to go out in a few minutes and you all will be sleeping when I get back... I now know that a bad connection this morning was due to bad weather..... definately.. Earlier, sun shining.. clear sky.... great connection.
