OK, I'm not afraid to do this. The topic is being beat to hell and back in the other thread, and no one is coming up with a solution. So, let's see what we get, and what admin will do about it.

Not really controversy, Grey, just some folks hashing out about post counts, but nothing being done about it. So I figured, heck, just go ahead and post a durn poll. Worst that can happen is admin comes in and says, "BR, mind your own f-ing business." At which point I will subject myself to a flogging and a time-out in the corner.

I like to see the post count because it helps me keep a reign on me. I seek balance in my life and FG is too addictive to me to not keep a check on my posting time.

Also, by comparing my numbers to others I get a healthier view of what I'm doing here.

I say: "KEEP THEM!"

Bunnygirl wants it to be an option, and that's good enough for me.

I just want to say though, folks, that except for the times when this

sort of thing comes up, I never even look at post counts. I couldn't

tell you what mine is right now, even. Maybe it's baby boomer vision

or something, but I look at the post content, and if my eyes travel

to the left a bit, I look at maybe a new avatar, a new tag line or

something, the post count number is inconsequential. I am sorry,

(what am I saying no I'm not) that's just the way it is!!

ohhhh.. a floggin and time out.. sounds very interesting.. hehehehe

damn.. come back brain..come back....

okay.. personally I don't care or keep track so whatever everyone decides is fine by me...

I voted for the "Option", cause if it really bothers anyone that much, let them turn it off. And for those who care they have it. And for those that don't care one way or the other, they don't look at it or care about it anyway.;)

got to admit i had this bizzarre feeling when i was reaching 1.000 posts, kind of liked it, made me feel i was a known member or some elitist s*** like that

now its past i'd much rather not feel that way again

ive heard some say that new members see a high post count & turn to that person for advice so thats a good thing - well thats just elitist s*** as well, if someone's name is seen a lot on the board new members will turn to them wether they see a post count or not

just my opinion

what i cant figure out is - how the hell can a post count be so important????????

again just my opinion but everyone keeps saying dont be nicey nicey all the time so here's me not being nicey nicey & saying wtf - post count - since when does that matter ???????

I feel exactly the same way, Butter, but everyone was discussing what to do about it, but no one took any action. So, I did.

To me post counts mean squat. But if some are looking at them and being competitive or whatever, I believe it would be a good idea to have the option of seeing people's posts counts turned off. Just like you can turn off other features and have people on ignore lists, etc.

I mean, think of this as an example: Greydeadhead was here before me. He doesn't have even 1,000 posts quite yet. Does that discount his contributions in any way? Does it make him any better or worse or change anything about him? No, of course it doesn't. QUANTITY don't mean squat.

I voted to make it optional. But only because Chonsi said she'd leave if we ditched them.

I've been on boards with them and without them.

Without works much better. Everyone always knows who the regulars are without them anyway.;)

i accept that br - so how childish are those that wish to keep the post counts going to look if there is an option?

keep em or lose em but inbetween is just silly - again IMO

good idea to start a poll - well done :-6

That she did. It shocked me, too. We can't lose chonsi, and I still stand by my statement that freedom of choice is always the best way to go.

i can only imagine she had a really bad day & was feeling emotional at the time as i just cant see chonsi giving a s*** about this kind of thing

if im wrong - i will have to support keeping them as im so fond of chonsi & if it means that much to her ect

The only count I keep track of is this one I'm 58 pushing towards 59 that's followed by 60 and I could go on and on. ;)
