Do you mean "Incense and Peppermints" maybe? Don't watch the show, so just guessing. The only peppermint song I know - was in one of the Austin Powers' movies.
I & P was done by the Strawberry Alarm Clock (how high were they to agree on that name?) in 1967. Only thing I know about it was the singer was 16 at the time, and their guitar player Ed King later played for one of my favorite bands Lynyrd Skynyrd. He left, rejoined after the plane crash - not sure if he plays with them now but was there for their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recently.

Tommy James was considered by some to be "bubblegum" rock. But
I liked a lot of the stuff.
