As far as I can see there is only one sin in homosexuality. That sin is not practised by the homosexual but by the so called Christians who heap abuse on them. That is the sin in homosexuality. I suspect there is more homophobia in the Christian Church in in regular society. Thank goodness not all Christians take the same view.

Back to the topic Personally now this is my opinion..... I believe homosexuality may be a psychological and emotional disorder . This being so it should be treated as such by the church as do all other medical disorders. As for 'sin' we all have sinned so to point fingers is really childish.

I did two threads last year about ways in which the Church has looked at sin and salvation- two dichotomies: one was the Legal Model vs. the Healing Model, and the other was Merchantile vs. Relational. My own belief is that any sin is only the symptom our not trusting God, which is a spiritual sickness, and should be treated that way, instead of as a crime.

Indeed we have all sinned. Homosexual practices are only a few sins of many humans do. Somewhere in the "sin catalog" are sins that you and I ourselves are still struggling to overcome, and I don't think God hates us for that. God does not even hate people who are willfully sinning, as Paul wrote in Romans 5:8, " But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Even before we knew what we were doing was wrong, or before we even cared to repent and overcome, God loved us enough to die for us in the person of His Son.

As for these characters who say "God hates fags," it's more than childishness- it's hypocrisy. They are sinners too. In fact, their "God hates fags" theme is a terrible sin in itself, because they are blaspheming against God- saying He hates people whom He says He loves, and because their hate is another sin just as severe as any homosexual act.

1 John 3:15,16

Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him.

16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.

Speaking of laying down our lives for our brothers, where do these people come from- protesting the funerals of our fallen soldiers, who have laid down their lives for all Americans, not just those who are like them?

Infuriating hypocrisy! I've heard that Congress is passing a law to punish people who desecrate our fallen heroes' funerals with protests like these people are doing. Ordinarily I am pretty dogmatic about freedom of speech, but at soldiers' funerals? That's where I draw the line. I think that kind of behavior is so beyond the pale it should not be tolerated.

I am a churchgoer, completely moderate and believe that church is a matter of community as religion. I haven't an opinion one way or the other about homosexual clergy. Known too many cases when the vicar has lost his rag and run off with a parishioner's wife. If a homosexual is a caring and good minister of God then what's the matter with that - as long as he doesn't flaunt his sexuality, but that applies in any job.

I think homosexuality is God's way of balancing out the population explosion. they didn't have the problem of humanity using the earth's scarce resources which the Bible was written, did they?

According to research homosexuality is not an illness or disorder but is part of the very ontology of the person. That is the way God creatd that person. It is not a choice and well meaning but ill informed people of all faiths make it a curse. Thus the only sin in homosexuality is the abuse they are subjected to by others. It is not in their lifestyle.

10% of the animal kingdom including humans are same sex oriented. That too is part of the research.

I believe the difference in God's reasoning processes compared to ours is similar or greater than that of our reasoning processes compared to an infant's. I have no proof or evidence, and I am certainly not presumptive enough to state as fact that which God thinks.

One of my mother's (a churchgoer also, strictly moderate if that's not a contradiction in terms) favourite sayings was that the Devil can quote the Scriptures for his own ends.
