I didnt really know what section to put this in where it would fit so I thought here might be okay.
what's better the Tate Modern or the Tate Britain?
I know alot of people on here dont live in England so probably wont know what I'm going on about, but I've got a school trip in a few weeks to either of these art galleries, or whatever you call them, and I dont know which one is better.

Tate Modern or Tate Britain?
I've never been to Tate Modern - it's the old Bankside Power Station on the south side of the Thames. They're not far apart really.
Tate Modern is primarily installation art, none of it (at a guess) older than sixty years.
Tate Britain is wall-hanging art, it has huge numbers of Rothco, Blake, Turner... just those three would have me walking the length of the country for another visit. Lichtenstein and Warhol, if you fancy something trite. The Tate Britain is one of the top three art galleries on the planet, as far as I'm concerned. Umm. Top five anyway. In my limited experience.

A link for the Tate online which includes both the galleries you mentioned and also Sr Ives and Liverpool. http://www.tate.org.uk/
I guess it's 'horses for courses' . I would love to see both, but if I could only see one, it would have to be Tate Britain because I am interested in social history and the old pictures are fantastic illustrations of just that.
When you go ...enjoy...wish it was me going :-6
