Yes, Pants, I had several benign breast lumps removed in my twenties and thirties...the operations were very straightforward, I was put under general anaesthetic but was only in hopsital as a day care patient. The scars I had were negligible. Since that time, I have had other breast lumps but it was decided that they need not be removed. Pm me if you want any other info...

In my experience, it is better to remove than to drain. Cysts nearly always return when they're drained.

[QUOTE=SnoozeControl]Nothing on my breasts, but I recently had a very large one removed from my neck/shoulder, and yes they require minor surgery. There's a sac that contains the cyst that has to be removed completely or there's a very good chance the cyst itself will reappear.

I can show you my scar if you want. ;)[/QUOTE

I'll have to dig out my camera, the webcam doesn't really pick up detail too well. Just to tide you over till I can take a photo, it's about an inch long and red.

edit: my scar, that is. My scar is an inch long and red.

I was only joking me dear.:-6

If this post is about your cyst, I hope you get it taken care of soon... they tend to get bigger, or at least they do in my experience. Good luck with it.

They do indeed get bigger, and in my experience they can be very painful. I spent three hours on my back once having a cyst inside a bone opened, scraped out, washed, pack filled with porous bone-mesh, and the muscle and skin layers stitched back into place, and the relief was huge - all the pain was gone and it had been fairly prominent for quite a while before the treatment. I'm glad I had a local anesthetic though - I'd have been uncomfortable watching it all with no pain relief at the site itself. It's not come back, and it was a long time ago.

It needed dealing with because it was building up a hotbed of pus in there and if it had gone systemic then it would have been a far bigger fight. The trouble with infected cysts is they have no blood supply so antibiotics can't get at them effectively.
