I fall in love with voices......
always have.... there are voices that I havent heard in years....yet I can hear them now...if I want to. Like choosing a CD off the shelf. Music stored,or unpleasant tracks that I will never play again. There are voices that can lull me to sleep...make me feel safe...keep me hanging on every word. And then their are voices that frighten me.... make me want to turn them off. Do you think the sound of someones voice is an indicator of character traits? I do. Its a combination of pitch...pronunciation..inflection.volume and delivery. I do not like the sound of my own voice. When I hear it recorded,I cringe. I have mastered the comedienes art of pausing in just the right place to create humor.but I cannott get rid of my Yankee Twang that I loathe. Voices play a big part in who I like and who I do not. Is that crazy? Or do you feel the same?

It's strange anyway that your own voice recorded never sounds how you think you sound when you hear yourself speaking (if that makes any kind of sense!)
I love accents, I think that they give character to a voice but I also like deep, dark brown, velvety voices!
When I'm speaking to someone on the 'phone, I always get a mental picture of how they will look from how their voice sounds ( and oh, the number of times they don't turn out anything like I have imagined!)
I'm so glad that there is some much variety in how people sound, just think how boring it would be otherwise!

It was interesting how I was always enthralled with English accents. Most Americans love all European accents. After a few days the variations were as comfortable as hearing different regional accents here in the US. I bring up the subject because..... Despite having grown to dislike the person immensely,if I heard his voice tomorrow.... I could be drawn in again. Each persons voice is as distinctive as their looks. It really is fascinating.

For me, the accent that I most like is an Italian accent but I like to hear them speaking English. There's something very sexy about hearing your own language spoken by a foreigner.

I fall in love with voices......
I fell in love with my husband's voice, a deep southern drawl to it.
But I have learned to love his soft spoken, barely audible voice now, due to his illness, and am happy he can talk to me at all.
Voices are important, but the person themself is the most important thing.
For some it is looks.
For some it is a voice.
For me, it was the man I fell in love with.

I love southern accents, especially Texas accents, there's something about it that makes me feel "home".

Weeder and Chocoholic, you should see if you can find "Be Your Man" by Josh Turner. His voice and the song is going up in the charts, here in Texas.

Weeder, I agree with you 100%. People's voices are very important, I think that accents can play a part in how you react to a voice but I wouldn't be put off just by the accent. I think your "Yankee Twang" probably sounds a lot worse in your own ears that it does to other people.

I agree. Weeder, I think you have a lovely voice, so warm and friendly!
I, too, love deep voices that trickle over your body like warm treacle! My favourite voice is that of UK DJ Dave Lee Travis. Mmmmmmmmm........................
I think men generally have the nicer voices because of their deep pitch.
Spot has a very nice speaking voice!

But as you say, all accents are nice. Mr Rapunzel has a London accent and gets the mickey taken out of him for it....................hehehehehe :wah:

Your hand, your tongue: look like the innocent flower,
But be the serpent under 't.
