Apostrophical inaccuracies.

At a posh and expensive Sydney restaurant you will find on the menu, "bar snack's, pizza's, burger's, and dessert's." These are to be washed down with premier "wines from the Barossa' " [Barossa Valley.]

Why on earth would you spend all that money on a posh restaurant and then have to read a menu like that?

Signed,

Bewildered.

"Eats, Shoots and Leaves" (Lynne Truss) is informative, invaluable and amusing. Thanks for mentioning it, Diuretic...

*writes theia realising to her horror that she has been using the ellipsis incorrectly for goodness knows how long. :-5 *

Ah, the ellipsis...potent symbol that it is :D

To be used to show that words are missing...from the text, or merely implied...

Whoops...

Okay, so I'll have to practice being more implicit...:)

What about semi colons; anyone use them incorrectly too?

All the time; I appear to have an unhealthy addiction to them; they seem to have replaced the comma in much of what I write; I could need help...

Don't overlook the period. When I was young, my sister missed her's and hell broke loose at home.

I guess if we stuck to correct grammar all the time, which I do try to, it would mess up the tag line for Star Trek, and the lyrics to 'Old Man River" would be shot to pieces!:D
