Here online it's a bit more difficult because a person only reveal's what they want you to see so you have to read between the line's a bit more. So, has anyone suprised you or have you suprised yourself by being drawn to somebody you otherwise would avoid like the plague or are you just good at sussing people out -

First impression's, have you ever been wrong????? do you judge people on your first impression's of them or do they pretty much live up to what you perceive them to be ????

I think I am pretty good at reading people at a first meeting. There's many things to watch for and listen to that are very telling. Bullet often asks me about prospects and probies for the club, and I am 6 for 6 currently. I told him which ones would make it and which ones wouldn't. I was right on all of them.My job makes this a bit easier for me. You have to pay really close attention to the people you are serving, especially ones you've never seen before. I think that has honed my skill at reading people.I'm one of those who tend to sit back and listen and observe and learn, without adding much to conversatons. I've found this is another great way to learn more about a person than maybe even they care to reveal.Between body language, how a person carries themself, how they interact with others, the inflections in their voice....it all tells you things about that person.

I have a sixth sense when it comes to meeting people for the first time. They could be the most charming person in the world, but that sixth sense kicks in and tells me beware. It's seldom, if ever, been wrong. On the internet, I don't know. You can't read body language, etc.

I'm usually right 99% of the time even on the internet....turned out that way when we had our 'big meet up' a couple of weeks ago. The only thing I was way out on in some cases was how people ACTUALLY looked even with the pictures we had.

I've met a couple of people that I didn't like right away, that I later started liking in spite of trying not to. I finally figured out that I'm that way with people that are very much like me. :-2

I'm like AC, the only ones I clash with are those who are very like me. It takes awhile to know a person, so first impressions really don't make the difference in how I perceive a person.

Some do not look like their pictures? The pictures were perhaps old ones? Sorry, this has me curious.

I was openminded about it really and yes...just a little apprehensive. I expected to 'get on' with everyone, but I didn't expect to get so 'close' to some people as I did.
It helped to meet some folks in stages on the friday before, and then we met everyone else, again in stages, on the Saturday.
Had there been any difficulties with anyone, I guess I would have 'put it down to experience' but the group was big enough not to worry about individual 'compatibilities'.
I doubt if I would ever meet up with an individual on a 'blind' date on my own....I don't think I'm that adventurous.....would I go out 'blind' and meet an individual I'd met on the internet....maybe....but with some trepidation.

Years ago a guy started working for us. He had once been a drummer in a well known band and supposedly had a bad reputation. No-one wanted him to come and work for us, some even starting up a bit of a hate campaign before he arrived. I decided to take on board all the bad press but until he actually upset me, not to have a problem with him. In all the years we worked together, we always got on really well and never fell out. I liked him a lot although the majority of the workforce were unpleasant towards him, presumably based on the seed planted at the start by the people that didn't want him there.

I've always been good at reading people, I'm very intuitive being a Pisces and all..
I've never been wrong when I've had a feeling to stay away from someone even when they appeared to be nice!
The internet is different since you can only go by what people tell you but once you're familiar with how someone posts you can see when there are inconsistencies.

I'm not that great at judging folks on first impressions. But then again I'm not very good at meeting new folks. I tend to be very shy and reserved. This has got me labeled as an ice bitch more than once.

I try hard not to judge folks by a stereotypical first response based on a person's appearance. I like to share this anecdote. First, I come accross as I am, a rather boring looking, middle aged person..nothing outstanding. Anyway, one day a few years back, my old clunker of a car broke down part way into an intersection. Several drivers whizzed by, honking thier horns..and flipping me off. THESE people were the rather plain looking people like myself..the person who flipped me off was an older lady, maybe in her 60's who looked like someone's plesant grandma. So, soon a car finally stopped and the driver asked if I needed a hand. I said yes. The foru occupants of the car all got out to help. They were all in thier late teens, early 20's. Various piercings and rather brightly colored hair. The one girl was Goth in appearance. So, the guys pushed me off the road, the girl lent me her cell phone to call for roadside assistance..and they even offered to wait till help came.
Now there are some folks who would have taken one look at this group and refused help. But it is interesting that the people who looked most like me were the ones who acted rudly toward my predicament!! Go figure.

Sheryl, I know where you are coming from. I am the same way, and think that is why I get on so much better in an online community such as this one.

Funny Sheryl, but I havent picked up on ANY coldness about you! I'm pretty good at seeing folks for who they are. Internet or otherwise.
But like Bez, I was suprised but delighted at the closeness of the new friends I made. That doesnt just grow on trees. It's something pretty special.
