The Last Day of School

so today I input my final grades for the year.* I've spent 180 days with this group of children.* Most did spectacularly well and are now at an Algebra level after coming to me with a 4th grade ability.* Others didn't learn as much.* Some ditched me (and their own futures) continuously.* I lost two to pregnancies, one to gangs, and one to weapons possession.

But all in all it was a good year.* I always get kind of wistful at this time of year.* What will happen to them all?* Will they have good lives and say hello to me at Walmart while they show me their babies and cars (which are usually better than mine!)* or will they end up poor destitute and in prison?* or worse yet, dead at an early age?

Last night a staged and choreographed the high school's graduation.* Everyone said it was beautiful and they all loved my video.

Do any of you remember a last day of school particularly?* Perhaps a warm day in May when you graduated?

yep grade 12, bunch of rowdies, and Alice Coopers Schools Out Forever blasting from my best buds ancient Perissian Boat/Car as we stood out on the front lawn of the school and watche others toilet paper the trees sheesh youth....

I remember that it was a lovely warm day in June and the evening was spent in the back seat of my boyfriend's '67 GTO.

Let's see it was hot, just like graduation tonight will be. I had class till noon, then graduation rehearsals around 1. Then my mom made me take a nap cause she knew how grouchy I can be without sleep. During the graduation ceremony I was half paying attention when they were calling out who had won various scholarships. They had to call my name twice and best friend nudged me to go accept one of my 2 scholarships I had won. I didn't know I had won them beforehand like my classmates, cause my mom didn't tell me. :wah:

Then after graduation it was the Senior Bash at the YMCA where we played games and a auction for prizes. By 6:00 a.m. when the bus rolled back into town, I was tired grouchy and didn't really care to see any of my classmates for a long time.
