Making Up Beds

Post by Lon »

Is it just me or have the hotels & motels changed the way they make beds?

I have stayed in quite a few the past few years and have noticed that when you pull the covers back to get into the bed, the whole thing comes apart and you must straighten out the mattress cover and bottom sheet before even getting in the bed. I just hate to get into a wrinkled bed and hate having to make the bed before getting in. Fitted bottom sheets might solve the problem.

Lon, you just brought back a flood of memories....

When I used to stay at my grandparent's farm for the summers, one thing that was a must, was, you make your bed when you get up. Granny would INSIST on hospital corners for the top sheet, after you'd made sure the fitted sheet was nice and smooth. To this day, I cannot make a bed without military-tight hospital corners.

Fitted bottom sheets, I change beds too many times a day.

I remember the old days when my granny used to iron her sheets!

My granny, at 96, is still a pip! She finally got rid of her ringer washer-for real-about 7 years ago. And finally gave in to permanent press sheets!

I talk to her every other day or so, she is a blast.

Probably just faster for them that way than having to have a pile of flat and fitted sheets: flat sheet on bottom, flat sheet, blanket, musty bedspread on top! :D

I will be going out of town overnight for my work later this week. When I come back, I will make an official bed report for you all. I feel it is my civic duty to do so.;)

I don't even bother making my bed, it's juts gonna get unmade when you crawl in.

Maybe that's why I didn't notice the banana in my bed.

I hate hotel beds, they are so freaking hard. And then you only get 2 pillows

I never make my bed either, but I do fold the duvet right back and drape it over the foot board to let the bed air. By making your bed immediataly you create the dust mites perfect atmosphere to survive.

Thats almost as scary as your sig Sheryl! :D

Remember hospital beds?

The sheets were so stiff with starch they nearly cut you,

and the top sheet and blanket tucked in so tight you could bounce a coin on it.

Now they use a duvet, makes life easier i suppose.

Can't say it worries me too much how hotels make the bed - I'm usually just happy that I don't have to do it!!

I hate beds in hotels, all I can think about is who has slept in it before me, yuch!! Also, most of them are far to tight, makes me feel as though I'm starpped down and can't move!!
