sad to say

Post by buttercup »

last night my partner got a phone call from a friend he hadent seen in years, we'll call him alan

alan & his workmate, we'll call him phil are staying in the area doing contract work

we meet them in a local bar, they have had a few beers by the time we arrive

i like alan immediately, phil i realise has issues & is quite bitter

phil is busy telling me how he hates workers coming over from poland & taking our jobs, he then goes on to tell me he's intending to go to amsterdam to live

so i say dont you see that as being similar to the polish coming here?

as he dident like that he proceeds to move onto how much he loves his country & how he would die for his country & how he is a true scotsman, all in a very aggressive manner, i ask him if he can speak his own language, he cant

if he loves his country so much, why is he leaving

at this point my partner & alan go off to shoot pool leaving me sitting with phil - great

anyway phil now decides that women are evil & we are all out to get pregnant to great guys like him :-3 for his money apparently

turns out he got a one night stand pregnant some years ago, i ask him how it can be all the girls fault & why he dident wear a condom

he tells me this girl slid into bed beside him when he was very drunk & its impossible for any man to stop himself when that happens :-2

partner & alan return, we leave shortly afterwards bringing alan with us to have a few drinks back at our house, good conversation & a lot of laughs

on reflection phil i suppose is your typical guy that hangs out in bars, the whole encounter made me think of some of golems comments over the past few days

if phil is the type of man you are meeting when you come to the uk then its hardly a surprise so many people form the opinion they do

its sad for me to see so many of my countrymen being a s s h o l e s as phil is just one of many, when i venture out the house the bar is bottom of my list of things i'd like to do, your guaranteed to meet a phil type, its sad

sorry that was such a long story, just felt like sharing

He's a Pr*ck, no doubt about it. The sooner he leaves the better. Enough said.

I have but one word for your dear friend Phil: ALCOHOLIC.

Dont provoke his ridiculous ramblings by questioning them. He sounds like such an idiot he might hit you if he is drunk enough and he would blame it on you saying it was your fault.

I think you're being a little harsh.

At periods in my life I've frequented many a bar (especially when I was in a grotty bedsit before I got this flat) and, whilst you do meet Phil every now and again, you're just as likely to meet (as I did recently) a Professor of Physics from the local university who wanted to discuss the problems of preserving historic artwork or, more usually, meet no-one.

DG is 100% correct here. I can smell 'em a mile away. This is the kind of person you want to avoid like the plague, as you will never make him see reason, and he is content to wallow in his own misery. Don't waste one nano-second of your life being concerned with him.
