But apparently, I didn't always like little boys that much!!

This past week, I was at my Dad's helping him clear out a lot of old

paperwork. Came across what to me was a real treasure trove of

stuff that my Mom had squirreled away, bless her heart, old report

cards and spelling tests and pictures... and one of them I thought I'd

share with you all. Don't worry, it's short.

Anastrophe was kind enough to post it on his website. Keep in mind,

when you are reading, that the year is 1962 and I was just about

9 1/2 years old.

VALERIE,

I would say at 9 1/2 years old, you had a good insight into the opposite sex.. !! Pretty much the same now as then, I would say.. ;)

Aha! An incipient stage of the Woman's Liberation Movement. No wonder they came a long way. They were intelligent. All we could do was hit baseballs and in my case shoot pucks(ee- god they even have women playing professional hockey with men today).

Great composition. It was so good that the teacher didn't even comment or mark the spelling mistake.

Thanks.

I wondered why she didn't catch the spelling mistake, but the paper was in with a bunch of my "A" and "100%" spelling papers, so maybe she didn't proof read

as closely for a little kid who got good grades, I dunno.

It's funny, I remember that little boy Winston, but I wonder how I came

to say "slap" instead of "hit" which I thought would be more the word a

little kid would use!

I also have a list of 11 names on a sheet of paper, with the gifts

they gave my mom for the baby shower when she was preggers with

ME!!

Awesome. If I were the teacher I would have been too stunned to have seen the piddling mistake. Awesome!!!!!!!!!

Me thinks that might be catagorized as "damning with faint praise" :sneaky:

(Serendipity, eh?) Can you remember writing that, Val? I wonder what Winston thought of you? :)
