Coulter is right on target. The widows are allowing themselves (willingly) to be used and to be critical of them will incur the wrath of most people. She is perhaps a bit forceful in making her point, but she is still right in my view. Cindy Sheehan is another example of someone who has lost a loved one and is using the death to serve a political agenda. Poor woman, don't dare criticize her, she is grieving.

At least Ann Coulter's not obnoxious like so many other people - she's obnoxious in a different and worse way.

She surfed in on the fear and hatred produced by the atrocities on that awful day. She's made a very good living by being a nasty, hateful bitch but she plays the part well. While Coulter is certailnly over the top and controversial, there is much satire and wit in her writing. She is also no dummy, having graduated with Honors from a great Ivy League University, Cornell and then going on to get her Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan. She was a practicing lawyer in NYC and clerked for a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals. Liberals hate her and conservatives love her, simple as that. She does provide some balance to the frothing at the mouth of many libs that are equally over the top.

If she were a comedian I could accept her lapses to ignorance as a joke and ignore it without comment. I'd even defend her against attack if her purpose was the noble cause of making people laugh. Unfortunately she defends her comments as entirely justified and rightful making it not a joke but a serious social statement. She takes away the humor defense of her own statements.

Anyone can be funny now and then but a serious social commentator has an obligation to justify their opinions, IMO.
