Hey, my edit didn't post, so I had to let it go, you're right, it does say little children, but your strict insistance that it mean young little boysies and girlies is incorrect.
Yeah, Teddy boy is the resident scholar and has all kinds of credentials (so he says) so you trust him implicitly.

- You ignored my very interesting observation about Our Lord's use of the phrase, and the obvious echo his "forbid them not to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven" has with this passage about Elijah. He does spend a lot of time overturning other Old Testament notions of justice too. I expect His [eventually in Matthew's text] Greek "little children" was a quote, don't you?

When people disagree with me in the academic spirit of the discussion I have no problem. I have no desire to have everyone think as I do. This is my journey and I am well supported in it. Others must also make their own journey. We are all brothers and sisters on this journey. We are in it together. Debate and discussion are fun and enjoyable activities as long as we see them that way.
When folks have to resort to name calling and sick innuendo as well as belittling their handicap or making an issue out of a mistake in word usage it is nothing more then a childish action. It does not really bother me but it does speak loudly about the individual engaging in such practises.

It is in the sharing that we come to understand others and thus hopefully get along. When it councerns me I consider where it came from and realize that it is the "child" speaking. I used to teach a course to grade 5 & 6, the title of which I have forgotten, and we used to deal with these issues. Even at that level they knew they were "put downs" and also knew why people egaged in such behaviour and they learned to treat it for what it was.
I once heard a poster on another forum ask for help in the nature of suggestions and prayer and a so called Christian returned the request with gall and vinegar. Another time the same poster called another poster a pedophile. I hit the roof and was well supported by the others. He was banned. And this was supposed to be Christian behaviour? I knew much better.

As I said once before I've been on several forum and the moderator on one. I have been called many names and none of them by non-Christians. Everyone has come from a so called Christian. I leave others to judge that. It sure doesn't give Christianity a good face.

An ancient saying: "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". Goofing is part of human nature. We must learn that none of us is perfect and accept ourselves for what we are. God, if you so believe, has accepted us but it's even harder for us to accept ourselves. I say own up and get on with life. No need to cry over spilt milk.
