What's the most outrageous email that you received that's obviously a fraud ?
I got one today that made me laugh. It was from a guy claiming to be from Barclays bank. He gave me some sad story about a rich guy who tragically died in a car crash leaving several million pounds behind. There is no next of kin, so they wanted my help to claim the money and I would get 20% of the "take" for my help.
It didn't say what I needed to do, but I assume that if I had shown any interest they would start reeling me in and at some point I guess I may need to make some "investment" in their scam.
HOW DO PEOPLE FALL FOR THIS ???

Not outrageous, but last year I did get one of those from the fake bank. It was from a bank I do not do business with, and it does not even do business in my part of the country.
Said there was a problem with my account and please follow the link to thier website to remedy it.
Yeah, riight..and I was born yesterday and all.

It's amazing how many people I never knew I was heir to are dying off like flies....and the number of banks that are having problems with their sites....and the people who want to offer me a job doing nothing but funnelling money through my bank account.

Apparently I have a wealthy American relative who was a chairman at Kobe Steel in Japan who died in Africa and he left over one million dollars. When I googled his name and the company I found nothing. Damn.

Hey guys, remember that one post in the Garden from the supposedly single mom who couldn't make her rent -- and she asked us to help her out with any contribution we could spare?
Some witty members here made some great comments on that one!

Just wondering, speaking of "cons" and stuff. I have not seen this here yet...but over on the animal site we would get alot (sometimes one or two a month) of people joining as "new members" simply to place advertising posts for everything from viagara wanna-be pills to the latest work at home, or buy this product ads. Not many of the general members saw the ads, because the staff were usually quick to move them to "invisible" or "exile"...parts of the forum only staff could see. That is probably the only part of being a mod there I will miss...making fun of all those goofy posts, and banning the users.

Yeah, Marie, we'd occasionally get that stuff on the chihuahua site, too.
And like you, the admin would get rid of it fast.
