Why my son is so cool.

This thread was inspired by Minks' story about her wonderful kids who showed up to support their friend when it was needed. It got me to thinking about all the horrible news surrounding young people today, and how grateful I am that my son is a good kid. Here's where we tell our stories about why we are proud of our children.

My son goes grocery shopping with me on occasion. When we get to the car, he always unloads the cart, and immediately takes it to the railed-off area designed for keeping the carts in one place. The first time he did this, he said "I can't understand why people don't take these back. Like it's gonna kill 'em to walk ten extra steps." I used to take them back, as long as I was parked close. Now I do it every time.

Another quickie...When my son was about 5, I took him to the park to play. When it was time to leave, I called for him and we went back to the car. I smoke, but not in the car with my son, so I flicked my cigarette away, and he stopped, glared at me, little fists on hips and said, "Not only do you smoke, you're a litterbug, too!!!"

Yep, they can teach us a lot, no matter what the age.

Out of the mouths of babe's as the saying goes, sounds like you centainly have plenty to be proud of! :-6 (Congratulations to you for a job well done, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!)

How old is your son now BR? He sounds like quite the gem. I bet he does well as he gets older. Kids can be so much smarter than we some times want to give them credit for and by god I say Brag about these kids all the time, they need that, they need to know they do good things and right things. There is way to much negativity in the world and to many road blocks and barriers for kids and teens that they get frustrated, they need encouragement and praise.

Maybe we ought to have a bragging thread hehehehe I love stories about kids. I love kids in general. I admire anyone who works with them at any level, like Jives, I admire good parents or any parents and I admire those who are not parents but try to understand kids.

Minks, my son will be 16 in June. :yh_doh Sheesh...typing that makes me cringe.

Cherry, that's a great note to get, especially from a boy, since they don't seem to let their feelings show like girls do! But when they do, it sure feels awesome, doesn't it?
