Phew!!!!!!!

Post by Hugh Janus »

Well. It took me 6 attempts to register because that stupid warped registration text was almost unreadable. I had to keep going on until I was able to read it. OK. I may not have the best eyesight in the world, but I also do not have the eyesight of a frigging sniper either!!! Don't you think that there could be a way of making the "warped" text more readable? Or introduce a voice (speak) facilty, that would enable the "normal" people to actually understand what is written?

OK. I may be getting older. But I am not that old. I can shoot a bull at 20yds, and a magpie at 50yds, but I cannot see what the warped text spells. H becomes M becomes N becomes 2 becomes Z becomes 2 (again.) Do you see my point?

Well now I have had my rant at the system I suppose I better go and introduce myself....

I agree with you. I'm going to change it. I can't read it very well myself!

Oh, I can never read those squiggly letters whenever you register for something! It's like a bad eye test!

Why thankyou kind sir. It's nice to know that sometimes people do take the trouble to read what I write. BTW. This forum site seems like a good place for me to hang my hat for a while:)

Do you mean

a) A badly designed eye test?

b) A test for bad eyes?

Anyway. Either way. They are still a pain. I am pretty certain that there must be another way that sites can find, that will act as "bot" stoppers, but yet allow "real" people to join. Without having to stand 20yds back, and squint through a hole in a paper bag, trying to make sense of something, that is unreadable..:wah:

*getting out microscope*

Oh, oh, Hugh is under scrutiny now!

I don't get why they have the letters for, since I am a computer dummy, why are they there in the first place?

The reason they have these silly letters is because a lot of ad sites and malware senders, use automated programs, that will go out and join forum sites etc. Then they spam the boards with adverts etc. Some of the programs can even "read" coding that will allow them to join. By using silly fonts etc, the "bots" are defeated, because they cannot read them. However, neither can "real" people:wah:

Does that answer your question?;)

Thank you Hugh. Didn't know bots were that smart, to know how to sign up in the required fields! What a bunch of sneaky ones. Robby the Robot wouldn't do that.:)

Are they smart enough to read human readable text out of a BMP or JPEG?

I don't see why it needs to be *so* topologically chalenged.
