Getting a little cracked here.....

Post by BabyRider »

I keep seeing thread titles, one after the other that read, "Prisoners speak out" and "Re-trial starts today" and "Should life sentence mean LIFE" and others. It's kind of getting to me, as I just taked to Matt and the lawyer found out he had the guideline wrong for sentencing. The minimum is 14 years, not 7. He also said that the judge has never been known to give a bond in a case like this. Holy crap I'm scared. Tomorrow is going to be very hard. I can't believe that my husband is actually going to Jackson State Penn. WTF am I going to do without him???

Pray that the judge is in a good mood tomorrow.

A few questions here, Br. Is Jackson State Peniteniary a modern prison or one of those antiquated monsters like Sing-Sing?

Do they have "good time" in your state? Or will he have to do the whole 14 hard core?

How far away from you is the prison? Will you be able to travel there easily?

You're supposed to be scared. You're human. And it's scary:(

Stay hopeful. It's good for your head.

If things don't turn out the way you want them to, there will be plenty of time to deal with those emotions.

Until otherwise, be optimistic, be positive, and know we are all with you in spirit on Wednesday morning at 9:00.

The slew of threads are the normal result of one thread leading to another. It is an attempt to separate issues for discussion but I can see how it would have an impact on you. Maybe surfing the net for as much info as you can find will help you feel less helpless?

The situation's not changed, you've still got bloody good grounds for appeal and a really good chance of winning a re-trial.

Keep the faith and believe that he'll be home soon although it's a bummer about the bond it is NOT the end of the world.

We'll certainly be thinking of you tomorrow and sending all the strength we can.

Jackson is pretty old. It's the largest walled prison in the world. He has a brother from the Blue Angels who is a corrections officer there, so that may help.

We do have good time. A year is actually 10 months.

I'm about 80 miles from Jackson. He will be there for quarantine, and then he may stay, or he may get shipped to another facility, hopefully one close to home.

I will get there if I have to sew wings onto my back.

He shot a man in self-defense. For the whole story, you'll just have to poke around the threads, I can't keep telling it over and over, sorry.

No problemo'.. If I ever go to jail.. (and I hope I never do...) that will probably be the reason.

I know, Bryn, but hearing his voice, and how cracked he was didn't help. He's losing hope. I can hear it in his voice and I can feel it.

It's this damn not knowing, the anticipation....it's wrecking us both.

Oh, that's the tough part, isn't it? All the more reason you do all your doubting HERE and not with Matt. He needs to get all of your positive energy.

Well, I just went to see him. Goddam that's hard. I don't know (after tomorrow) when I will see him again. When any prisoner gets into the system, they have to go through quarantine first, and everyone does quarantine in Jackson. You get no visitors in quarantine, and it could last as long as 3 months.

This place is so empty without him. Nothing means anything, there's no joy in anything. Today is my son's 17th birthday and I had to postpone with him because I just can't be around anyone right now.

This is not getting easier, it's getting harder. I just want to go curl up and hide.

You didnt mention anything about the appeal, is that still in the works ? Why did the story change from 7-14 yrs ? If its your lawyer he should be damned sure he knows what hes talking about before he blurts things out.
