Too Paranoid

Post by Sheryl »

I think I royally ticked off my mom last night. Here's the deal, her and my sister are always paranoid bout accidents and germs. It drives me crazy. Last night I mention map colors instead of crayons for the kids to color with in the car when we go camping. Crayons will melt in the sun that's why I vetoed those. Anyways when I mention map colors, my mom screams no! Why because if I should be in a car accident the map colors could stab one of the kids. :-2 Well after the whole swimming pool with bleach episode (paranoid bout meningitis then) I told her to lay off that if I went around worrying bout every little thing, the kids would not have any fun. Then my dad spoke up and said yea what your daughter said, I think he gets tired of the comments too.

So was I to gruff, or was I right in saying lay off.

I would laugh Weeder, it's just that sometimes when they pull this stuff it makes me feel like I'm not a good enough parent.

How would the kids grow up if you allowed your mother to wrap them so tightly in cotton wool all of the time.

Do you want them so scared of imaginary dangers that they won't move?

You were quite right IMHO.

Being too paranoid can be a real burden. I had to give up playing Rugby because everytime the other players went into a scrum, I thought they were talking about me. :o

Did you get a heat rash? :-3

my kids are so easygoing about everything and I know a lot of it is because I'm such a goofball with them.

like if they crack their head off the table or something and look like they're going to cry I'll say "look, you broke the table..." and they're like: :-3

but they know I'm messing with them and then they just go back to what they're doing...:D

Sounds like your a young mom. So Ill share this with you. There is no good enough parent. Most often grown children will find fault, or not turn out perfectly with even perfect parents. So enjoy yourself.. relax.. allow your self the liberty of making wrong choices now and then. As long as the bo bos arent safety threatening... no big harm done.
