Need my sleep fixed

Post by LottomagicZ4941 »

One of the reasons I don't go online as much anymore is my wife thinks my going online is part of my sleeping problem.

So for quite a while I would only go online on days off.

Anyway, my perscription is no longer working.

Ambitriptline(sp?) helped for a while but no longer works. Melotonin worked for a while.

Don't know why God won't heal my sleep as He healed my knee once in high school.

I basically need 7 hours of sleep to function proper. Erik sleeps throught the night most of the time so having a kid is not the problem. The problem is that I wake up and often can't get back to sleep. Been waking up at 2:30ish and only getting back to sleep around 5AM.

I've had sleep problems for so many months now that I think it all caught up with me yesterday. I was off and had planned to do a lot and did nothing but sleep all day. I've been up and down most of the night but I'm surprised I slept at all considering how much I slept yesterday. I tried Tylenol PM but something in it must not agree with me. I'd wake up with huge, ugly bruises every time I took it. I guess I need to get over my fear of sleeping pills and get something from the doctor. My body can't take much more sleep deprivation.

Here's what I take to help me sleep:

1) Lorazepam -- I believe it is the generic for Ativan. Works nicely.

2) Cyclobenzaprine -- generic for Flexeril. I'm prescribed this because of my three back surgeries; it is a muscle relaxer. I can't take it during the day, as it really knocks me out. But works well if I need to be knocked out at night.

I take the Lorazepam too, doctor wanted me to sleep more. I did last night, first night of 8 hours sleep in 3 months. It was mowing the durn yard that pooped me out, I hate that chore.:(

Did any of you ever try a good drink of something alcoholic. It certainly works for me. You don't need to get falling down drunk, just relaxed and a lot less tetchy. Failing that, make a conscious decision that you are going to stay awake all night. Do the things that you want/need to do. Keep the radio on, drink plenty of coffee. I find that if I have a room to decorate, I do it through the night. I do a good job, no interruptions, and when it's done I can be proud of the fact that it was done so quick. When the dawn breaks you will shrug off any tendancy to need to sleep. Or, you may sleep for a couple of hours. But I bet come evening, you will want your bed. And sleep like the dead... Sleep is something that occasionally needs to be re-learned. Oh and one last thing.... STOP WORRYING ABOUT THINGS...

Ha-I don't drink alcohol at all. So that won't help. And my husband is an invalid, and up and down all night long, like a toddler, popping in and out of the wheelchair so I have to chase him back to bed, so there is nothing for me to do but get up. I only stop worrying when I sleep....................it is better now that it is summer vacation, I can get 6-7 hours a night sometimes.:)

Oh, I am sorry to hear that. Maybe you ought to try alcohol. It is not bad, (in moderation) and it is legal. And get a remote control for the wheelchair, that will bugger him up. :wah:

I know that sleep deprivation is a major problem with lots of people. I think it is something to do with the pace of life. You know. You could always take the wheels off and leave it on bricks. Then tell him he has been vandalised...:wah:

I have been know, at 1 or 2 in the morning, to take the step ladder, and put it betwen the spokes of the wheel so the chair won't move. That is usually when I have a migraine from no sleep, I don't like staying up late past 11 at all. He gets the hint then! Like duh!

I think my tummy cannot tolerate alcohol, it never really liked it, but I feel like giving my husband some one night to make him sleep.................................

Cherbuster,

Both those drug will work for sure. I took Ativan after breaking my Neck boy did I pack on the pounds..:wah: Flexeril works as well I quit taking both drugs because the side effect out weighted :wah: the results.

Sleepless nights also comes with aging folks sad but true. :-5 The only way I get a good nights sleep is to physcially exhaust myself to the point of forcing myself out of my Lazy Boy recliner, and into bed..

You know, he really is a great sleeper. He sleeps in his own bed in his own room.

He has already chewed through two beds, but this one seems to be lasting nicely.

Often times, he'll fall asleep in my bed. I'll pick him up, carry him to his own room, and lay him down gently in his furry little bed.

He looks so sweet and angelic at that moment to me.:-4

My kitty Won Ton sleeps with me, every night. He has ever since he was a kitten.:-4
