Chariot racing
I've heard of it. In fact I owned a couple of teams, Cutter horses, or chariot horses. They're quarterhorses and the races are short and fast. It's a big deal in Utah, Wyoming, some in Montana, Idaho, Colorado and a team or two from California.

What part of Utah? They have the World Finals in Cutter Races in Ogden-last weekend in March and first weekend in April.
We owned the world champion (twice) Rene's Reb

Yes. Snooze, the cutter races are done on the snow and ice. They were originated in Thayne, Wyoming and they only have 2 days of summer.

Cutter horses are bred to cut cattle. They are usually foundation bred (that means they are from old lines.) They are well bread quarterhorses...
Now.. I don't know what the hell I am talking about.. because I don't like horses very much.. they are big, and they bite!! But Lilly (that's my woman) likes them alot!! We have a Cutter horse.. Jodie.. I say "we" but it's her horse.. I just pay for it..
Lilly's favorite game lately is to point out a horse on t.v. or anywhere really... and ask "What kind of horse is that?!?!" then giggle at me endlessly when I don't know..
Good times... :-5

Arabian horses, so beautiful. I went to Cal Poly, Pomona, and all they have there are Arabian horses. I loved seeing them everyday.

Captain Ray, my sister in law in Kansas did that kind of cutter team stuff and I'd never heard of the other kind until I moved to Wyoming. 'Course I never heard of a lot of things until I moved to Wyoming. These Cutter or Chariot races are actually run on the snow and even if there's a blizzard howling around them they slip and slide down the track. As long as it's 10 above zero.

Lilly sounds like my kind of gal. My brother works at the horse farms in Kentucky. They raise the Thoroughbreds. I saw them when I was there in May for The Derby.

The Preakness is such a big event here, the competition for us ladies in the milliner's shops is fiercesome, fighting over the bonnets.

I saw some of the bonnets for sale in Louisville. Wayyy expensive. I made my own: my red cowgirl hat, which has a red feather and I festooned it with black net. It was quite fetching.

You must have seen Citation's and Whirlaway's, then...
Ever read a book called Wild Ride? It's pretty good...
Poor Alydar. Anybody out there remember how he got his name?

I chewed some once while driving a chariot.
Er, wait, was that the stagecoach? Might have been. Oh wait, yeah,
it was when I was driving the stagecoach. I remember now 'cause
something spooked the horses and they took off and I accidentally
swallowed it. The gum, I mean.
I betcha it's still in my tummy, you know that stuff never goes away.
