A little news blurb came under the Baltimore news about an hour ago, I am going to look for it, they were talking about Barbaro.

It was on the news conference that you listed, they watch his condition daily here, since he was hurt at the Preakness.

He has good doctors, it might take longer for that noble horse to be well again. It is a wonder what they have done.

Makes me wonder how much of this is true and how much of it is propaganda, so as to decrease his popularity among the majority of betters, thus creating higher payouts. Unless, of course, he doesnt race again.

I'm guessing you didn't watch the race, K? And remind me again....HOW much experience in animal medicine do you have?

IF Barbaro does recover from this infection, and all the other complications, there is NO WAY this horse can ever race again.

Sorry for the hijack, Val...but I gotta know: K, you have a lot of cynicism in you. Where does that come from at your young age?

Are all the animal knowledgeable people in here agreed that Barbaro will never race again, regardless of his recovery?

No way he could even have anything remotely like a normal horse life.

Laminitis means (if he does even make it through that) lifelong dietary

restrictions, and limited mobility.

Unfortunately, I think we'll soon hear he's been put down.

My only hope is every one of these they undertake, they learn a little

bit more. What not to do the next time, etc.

Poor baby.

Growing up around standard bread horse racing, I know first hand on what goes on behind the scenes of the sport. From doping to paying drivers to dump, I wouldnt necessarily call this cynical in what i believe is one of the most corrupt events in the world. Im sorry, but I know there are far worse things that happen than simply listing in the paper that a major horse is incapable of winning yet to see them bring home the bacon and fatten the wallets of the people in on it. Not too exaggerate in my opinion.

On the same note, wasnt last years Kentucky Derby winner that of an injured stricken horse("supposedly")

I don't mean just in this topic. I'm cynical too, and I know where it comes from, so I am curious about it in other people. I know very little about horse racing, but I'm sure it has it's share of corruption, like any other sport. I do know animal medicine, though. I was just being curious, is all. Not trying to be snotty at all. :yh_bigsmi

Well thats the thing, I dont really see myself as being cynical, especially since I tend to give people respect before they give me reason not to respect them as opposed to making them earn it. Maybe it just appears as being cynical because I only speak up when I see the negative in things, hence you not seeing my feelings towards all of the good I see.
