What HAppens?

Post by Saffron »

I looked for a category to ask this question, but could not find one. So I will ask this here; When a woman goes thru menopause and looses the urge for sex. I was wondering, is it for good? OR is this just for a few years? And is her body sort of unwilling to go there? IS it more a physical or a mental state, or is it both?

Saffron, I think you should ask your doctor those questions. It might be both.

I do not know for sure when menopause begins, I am 51 and haven't had any problems yet. Others might offer you some good advice.

The menopause will begin when all your eggs are used up. This can be anything from 30s to 50s (age). The woman's sexual drive during and after the menopause will mostly depend on whther she is still enjoying it at the time and remains sexually active. It is not unknown for women to carry on enjoying sex into their wrinkly years.

From what I have understood, sometimes there is a lessening of sexual desire, because of dryness..making it more uncomfortable. As well as due to some medications given to us at this time.

I would check with your doctor about suplements .

I think I am going miss menopause completely, but I don't want to reach the "wrinkly years" soon enough-that was such a cute phrase, Marie!:)

Medication aside, a sexually active woman will still lubricate, although, not quite as much, but enough to make the act comfortable and pleasurable.

To add to my last post here, a sexually inactive woman will stop lubricating after the menopause.

There is probably a point there about sexually inactive women.

As another note, though, I have been on anti-anxiety meds...since some of my peri symptoms have begun. Side effect, decreased libido. Yep, very true. Mine is almost non existant.

But to be honest, I am just as happy. But that is a whole new thread.

Just to show that I'd mentioned medication. Glad you're happy though, Marie. Sex ain't everything there is to enjoy in life.

I haven't had a period in five years, so I think I can safely assume I'm menopausal and I can assure anyone that 's interested that I don't suffer any dryness at all. :)

I've been told that sex is better after the menopause, and I can vouch for that from my side of things.:D

OM, I have heard that too. And I do enjoy reading your opinions on things!!

But as an aside..I am one of the wierd ones who was always one to take it or leave it. It has never done much for me. OK, now this is an awkward moment, of possibly too much information. Slithering off now.....:o

But we can't tell the others, or they'll all want a menopause.

Thanks everyone. I'm not going thru menopause yet, but I know some who have. I was just curious.

I guess, from what I have just read, that if a woman is inactive during or after, that the lubrication stops? This has not happened to me, not even close. So I was wondering about others.
