I thought that AOL had a broadband service?
Tough decision for you, either way. It becomes a question of what you use the internet for. Obviously if you're intensively into online video/audio, dial-up is not for you. If you use the internet for the odd forum, email, maybe ebay/amazon, then stick with dial-up.
However, a caveat: The internet is quickly becoming targeted more and more towards broadband; ads, graphics and site content are beginning to assume a fast connection. I imagine that this will only continue.

AOL is based here too and Yes it has broadband. I much prefer my home network www.eircom.net

Telewest packages are cheaper than BT, I have phone, TV and local and national calls are free £25 per month, probably the same package as you.broadband is another 14.99. BT only offer local and national calls free at weekends and evenings. My BT phone bill used to be £70-80 per month just with my wife talking to her family. I actually still have a BT line-I work from home the telewest was because of the offer.
Currently I'm hoping she falls out with her sister in Austria-what do they find to talk about for tw0 hours at a time?
The equivalent package from BT costs more but no TV frankly I can take or leave the cable TV but the signal where I live is failing thanks to too many trees between me and the mast. Telewest security is quite good they have a virus blocker on the server also they pointed my in the direction of some excellent free mail checker services so I can check e-mail BEFORE I download them and delete all the spam. The amount of spam I get rockets if I e-mail someone with hotmail or AOL so I am not too impressed with their security I am disinclined to try AOL. You can also get the superfast one if you need it.
I suggest you take a good look at your phone calls and what they are costing you.
