It seems a little strange, but then we can't really know the postal

clerk's intent. Maybe he just does that with everyone, regarless of

race.

Either that, or he was really nervous and trying to ingratiate?

Like I say, we don't know.

Snoozie

If I go to her window, will she only show me accomplished Jewish people?

Seems like she used some questionable judgment.

Valid US Postage stamps can now be sent to you with your own submitted photo - you design your own Postage Stamp over the internet and receive them in the post.

At the risk of sounding obsequious, if you used your own photo I bet you could sell them on at a profit. I'd have a sheet and frame it. It's not a bad Christmas present, even.

Problem being that your ethnicity is not as highly visible as a black

man's would be/is.

At least to someone like me, perhaps there are those who could tell but

I certainly can't in most cases.

Val

I took YZGI's comment in the spirit of the thread title. I think (and certainly hope) no bigotry was truly intended.

I'm glad we were on the same page about the comment. I definitely took it in the way it was intended!

Val was just being protective of someone she cares about. I'm honored to have her in my corner . . .

I get a lot of stick for being English sometimes but I'd still rather be that than anything else. Besides, it's not something one can easily swap into or out of, I'm no actor.

I'm re-reading Puckoon at the moment (and listening to Spike Milligan read passages from it) and my goodness, they knew how to be bigotted in those days. Wonderful stuff. Will it end up sold bowdlerized, or banned in libraries? I do hope not.

Bigotry can be blatant and in your face or it can be subtle like the wind, not really knowing what just happened. Something like this I just shrug my shoulders at, but were all individuals and have our own sensitivity meter.

I work in a very very ethnic environment and its too hard to know whats going on in other peoples heads so I treat everyone the same. Just relaxed and a how ya doin today seems to work for me.

Was that wrong?
