Cremated. I have asked for that from my husband, but I have no way to know if he enforces my wish. Hey, I'll be dead, I would never know.;)

Even if you are buried it is only a matter of time before you get scattered to the wind.

The Appalachians once upon a time were the the Rocky Mountains of the region. It won't take that long but you get the picture. The answer they say is blowing in the wind. You just don't quit learning new stuff do you?

I've always said cremation and I want it to be done as soon as possible following my death; I don't want anyone "viewing" me. If a body is to be cremated it usually isn't embalmed.

I would like to go to a medical school first, so they can learn. Then be

cremated. Have a party instead of spending thousands of dollars for a

casket and a plot. Spend it on Dom instead, and I'll look down on ya whilst

you're drinkin' it!!

They could call it the Day of Iniquity and celebrate the holiday every year! I'd be proud to have such a holiday named in my honour.

Creamation for me also..!! actually I would like to have an INDIAN burial, but I'm not an INDIAN..!! ;)

The thought of being put in a BOX and then buried in the ground, just doesn't work for me . Having someone dress me, put makeup on me, and what ever else they do gives me the creeps. The coffin to confining..!! BUGS, WORMS.. GOD KNOW WHAT ELSE.. :-3

Reality I will be dead, I won't have any idea what is happening to me.. :-2

Mind you a gravestone would be handy for family history.
I think that anyone that has participated in a disinterment of a human being that has been in the ground for anywhere from 3 months to 100 years would opt out for cremation. Depending on a number of factors, you could find a slimy rotting mess to a desicated remains resembling a mummy.

Just thinking out loud: Since no one really knows for sure if you can or can not still feel pain after passing, and especially if the "Soul is still alive", BURNING may turnout to be an extreme tourture!?

(Some religions believe that the "bad Souls" Burn in Hell forever as a

punishment?)

Bake me until well done.. rent a bar.. place my urn on the bar with a good beer on one side, a bottle of Gentleman Jack on the other and a big ole fattie on top. Crank up Jerry and the boys.. Then everyone party till the sun comes up. No wailing or crying. Celebrate my life.. not my death...

Sounds like a winner but I think that giving the cadaver to medical science would be helpful to someone. Use a pretend urn or one with the spare parts in it.

Do people realize how many urns can be filled with their remains? This celebration could go on for years and years. Everytime a bodypart becomes available... Party Centra. You and Jerry can just groove to the sounds and enjoy the smoke. At least that's my plan.

I've always told my kids and family, that when I die, no service, cremate me, put me in an ugly wooden box for storage, and use the money they would have used on a funeral and expensive urn to go to the Carribbean all together and dump me in the warm sea! They can spend time together when they need it the most, and feel good that I will be happy with the fishes! These instructions are in my letter to my executor.

if only your executor has your instructions, and this is for everyone, by the time they are opened it will be after the fact. immediate family should have all your information including what you want in your obit at hand immediately upon the fact of ones demise. in writing. can't stress that enough!

If I die before my dad buried if he pays for it. If I die after him or he does not want to pay for the burial then I've told my wife to just go with cremation.

My wonderful wife e-mailed me this one earlier this week

My wonderfull wife E-mailed me this one

Obedient Wife > > There was a man who had worked all of his life, had saved all of his > money, and was a real miser when it came to his money. > Just before he died, he said to his wife, > "When I die, I want you to take all my money and put > it in the casket with me. I want to take my money to the afterlife with > me." > > And so he got his wife to promise him with all of her heart that when he > died, she would put all of the money in the casket with him. > > Well, he died. > > He was stretched out in the casket, his wife was sitting there in > black, and her friend was sitting next to her. When they finished the > ceremony, just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the >wife said, > "Wait just a minute!" She had a box with her; she came over with the box > and put it in the casket. Then the undertakers locked the casket down, and > > they rolled it away. > > So her friend said, "Girl, I know you weren't fool enough to put all > that money in there with your husband." > > The loyal wife replied," Listen, I'm a Christian; I can't go back on my > word. I promised him that I was going to put that money in that casket > with him." > > "You mean to tell me you put that money in the casket with him!!!!?" > > "I sure did," said the wife. "I got it all together, put it into my > account and wrote him a check. If he can cash it, he can spend it." >

lol, good one lotto!

Seriously, though...I have a big problem with this one. My family has always gone for cremation. It's kind of a tradition with us, we operate under the philosophy, "Spend the money on the living, leave it to the kids."

My bride, however (I just love calling her that, even after 11 years) is adamant that we must be buried side-by-side. I only mentioned cremation once and the crestfallen look on her face was enough to make sure I never said anything again. (That, and eating leftovers for a couple of days while I talked to myself.)

Any advice you guys?

Don't let her push you around. Show her who a man is and how a man acts! You are setting the example for the next generations. Tell everybody you fell down and were in too much pain to let her cook for you. Jeez Jives? You let them know that and you'll be happy that it's only the credit cards she's spending. Do you like the concept of overtime and second jobs at the same time.?

Whoa. Slow down. Calm out!

Good advice Lady cop! Maybe I am just more aware of my mortality, but my executor, who happens to be my brother already has my letter, and in the event he dies before me, my cousin is the alternate, she has the exact same letter except hers states she is an alternate.(They haven't and won't open them unless something happens) Dosen't everyone do it this way?

not everyone realizes that an executor is not necessarily the person who would arrange final rites. usually, but not always, the only purpose of executor is in settling estate. immediate funerary arrangements need to be known in advance by whomever will be handling them. and of course they need to know the wishes of decedent. and it must be in writing because oftentimes that's when family disagreements can come to the fore.

I know, kinda sad. When my Aunt passed away some of her kids went bananas trying to tell each other what thier Mom really wanted to happen to her.

I'm pretty comfortable talking about stuff like this with my kids, my kids are so comfortable infact that when I buy a particularily nice outfit or wear a nice piece of jewelley, my girls always say "I get that when you die, right?" hahaha. My son says that about our car :) I've told them in no uncertain terms that if they ever argue over stuff once I'm gone and there is an afterlife that I would spend it haunting them!! lol

LC makes a very valid point.. get everything written down.. and make sure that your wishes are specific..

Kensloft.. I really like that idea.. let med students study this old deadhead body then have an individual party for each body part.. damn.. that is brilliant.. then stuff the remains in a high explosive firework shell and launch me.. this is becoming more fun every minute....
